Things to consider when entertaining a DD system..
1.what type of gearing do you want in the gear box. i.e lows, mid, topend enhancement (gear ratios)
2. Realize that you will lose your reverse gear, until they complete, the retrofit kit available early next year!
Royal Distributing claims 13-15 lbs of weight savings...i have no proof till i do my install...and what will the retro reverse kit add back to the sled
They also claim 10-15 additional TRACK hp.
Included is a Brembo 2-piston brake kit, with a Brembo-recomended brake rotor, i don't remember if the lines are braided S.S

I should have mine installed by the 15th of Jan...lots of time for testing and evaluation.....i opted for a mid-to top-end set up! That combined with a Super tuner clutch kit....should make for one bad motor-scooter

They claim a big weight savings, but when you look at the picture it looks like it has as much mass as a conventional system. The gear case looks huge. They don't mention how much weight savings, maybe a bologny sandwich with lots of bologny. If they're like other after market companies they lie through their teeth to make a sale.

I hope its not a bologny sandwich with lots of bologny.I hope its 20lb less with 12lb less rotating mass and lowers the centre of gravity of the machine, with endless gear options as they claim. Not that I could afford it this year any way!

It would be relistically 10lb lighter. The only reason you may want one is if you are gonna spin huge(250++) hp through your existing chaincase. I plan on installing one inthe future...........so i'd let you know how it works out.

If you're going to be spinning 250+ hp, you'll for sure want a jackshaft, otherwise you'll rip that bugger right off the tunnel.
The whole purpose of a jackshaft type drive system is to convert the engine's torque from twisting against the tunnel to PULLING. It makes it possible to apply more power without anything breaking.
All of the older sleds had NO JACKSHAFT.
You have to be very careful about purchasing anything. Lots of companies will sell CRAP, but market it like its the best thing going. Case to consider: 2-stroke twins. Anyone with a lick of common sense KNOWS that more cylinders is better. Less stress against each connecting rod, more even pressure against crankshaft, smaller area per piston... generally MORE POWER and RELIABILITY, yet so many suckers have been fooled into thinking that twins are superior... its just marketing. The product is CHEAPER TO MANUFACTURE = more profit per sale, AND burns easier = more profit on repair.
This "diamond drive" is obsolete. It is cheaper to manufacture than jackshaft drives, and so would be of interest to cheapass manufacturers, and yet we don't see any. Why? Because they are SO CRAPPY that not even cheapass manufacturers can get away with using it. Sometimes its worth it to have the extra weight of a jackshaft.

Especially when it is going to cost you $3,000 in canuck bucks plus install. Save a few more bucks and put it towards a turbo if you want performance. No feedback yet on how the ZR9 is running with this system.

Sorry guys........thought this was about the RMI Gear Drive.......They can handle the big power as many mountain guys with the big block triples (1600-1800cc) run these and they hadle the power well.
A bit confused earlier..........plan on putting one in (RMI) for spring snow.
Don't know much about the Diamond Drive....sorry

I have nothing against gear drive. It would be fine if combined with a JACKSHAFT. Without a jackshaft, there is a severe problem with the LEVERAGE. Twist that sucker off the tunnel. Maybe not IMMEDIATLY, but definitely. Just like an A/C or DOO motor. Eventually it WILL blow.

I've been trying to call Black Diamond for weeks but it seems no one is there! I'd like to set up a distributorship here in the UP and use mine as the test guinea pig!!!!
