Do i need an oil change?

I have an 07 Phazer Fx that I only put 500 miles on last winter. I had a complete service done at my local shop at the beginning of last years riding season. Do i need to have it serviced or will I be good for this year with the limited miles that it has since the last service. Thanks for the input.

its so simple to drain and refill the oil tank i would say just do it, you can do its yourself in ten minutes, you do not need to change the filter, yamaha says 20,000 km before the filter change, but i do it every other season regardless of the amount i ride.

You should do the oil changes at the end of the season so the engine sits with fresh oil instead of old oil that eats away at the engine internals.

Correct me if i'm wrong here guys, but you can very simply take the drain plug out of the bottom of the oil resevoir tank, drain, and re-fill, right?

if it's been sitting for a few years, i'd just change it yourself. just pop the panel off, drain & fill.

no problems with that spike. i've done it.

i change the filter first oil change and then every other season after that - i just drain the tank - takes 30 minutes.

Changing the filter is also very easy, it sounds like a job and a half but is really not all that bad.
