I want to to my ripsaw and here is what I've been thinking. A lot of people have used woody's 1.325 studs, now if the lug is 1.25 that only leaves .075 above the lug? If I use woody's 1.450 that would give me .200 above the lug or almost 1/4" which is the minimum penetration recommended. The stock tunnel protectors are 1" tall so it seems that even with the longer stud there would be ample protect. this is for a 03 with a 136" ext with ripsaw.
thanks,

I used the Woody's 1325 studs on my Vector with the Ripsaw.
There is more than .075 above the lug.
I was wondering the same thing myself until I did the install.
I posted some pics at http://www.rx1.info/viewtopic.php?t=6765
Hard to tell the penetration from the pics.

I had 96 1.325 Woody Gold Digger's put in down the middle of my '05 1.25" Ripsaw track, and they stick out WAYYYYY more than you would think. The rubber of the lugs doesn't even touch the ground, it's all porcupine footing.

not trying to get creative greenmachinejust, looking at the numbers it doesn't look like the 1.325 would give enough penetration using the math in the begginning. If that is not the case thats fine, its simple math .075 is not the same as .250 or 1/4". if 1.325 is NOT the number I should be using than I guess the question is what is?
It seem they all use different lengths in their ads.

I use 1.25s on a 1" track. No tunnel clearance issues.

Wizard. A lot of stud companys measure their stud length differently. With woodys, I believe you have to add on the thickness of the track, which for most tracks is .18. So if you add the .075 you came up with to the thickness of the track which is .18, you will get .25", which is what is recommended. Hope this helps. I wish there was a standard to which all studs were measured, but as of now there isn't. I have Woodys 1.325 installed on my 1.25" ripsaw and the studs do stick out about .25"

I measured mine.
Measurements taken from the surface of the track that will contact the snow.
Track lug height is 1.25" as you all know.
Stud length is 1.5", these are Woody's Golddiggers 1325's.
The Penetration = .25"

I used a 1.340 roetin with a 1 inch 9830 on my 2003 rx-1. aside from having the track to loose with my bovine suspention. They worked great
