I Just bought a used 2009 XTX and love it. I put 228 1.5" Gold diggers with my brothers special 32 scratch mark stud pattern. This thing is a rocket, I beat a F1000 snow pro with mods, 800 r ski-doo, 900 fusion, and a modded out thunder Cat. Nothing could beat my bone stock sled with 1600 miles on it. Can't wait to put the NOS kit on it.

you took out some of the biggest sleds youll find on trails .... n2o is going to be totally not needed unless thats what your rivals will be doing .

Well I'm hoping to get a little more power to run my neighbor, he has a 09 Z1 turbo with a Hi jacker kit. I know he has more power but I want to stay some what close

I would be surpised if your seld even does 100mph with that many studs. You can't be racing to far, since The F1000 and the Thundercat would certainly beat you on top end.

In my area its a race on the river between the bridges in St. Charles. Its about 700 feet. I'm not to worried on top end, because thats not what this is about.

in certain conditions the z1 with a high jacker will rock! (dad had ne last year) he may have u out of the hole, if it is studded well

After owning a well setup apex last year and now the xtx. One thing i would have to say is that the nytro pulls harder out of the hole to about 65-70mph than any other sled ive been on. The nytro is quick but not fast. My spare sled is a 99srx and i would put money on the srx on the long pull.

I agree with you, the nytro right out of the hole puts my about half a sled length ahead of my dad on his apex gt till about 75-80, then he pulls away pretty good!linemech31 said:After owning a well setup apex last year and now the xtx. I respectfully disagree with you guys and here's why. The 121 inch rip saw weighs 36 pounds. the 144 inch Ripsaw weighs 45 pounds. that said the XTX still shows better MPH then the 121 shows. Which proves Rotating mass isn't always a factor in MPH. There are other factors that go into why one sled achieves X mph and another sleds achleves Y mph.
As a matter of fact I believe the only thing the studs will do is slow the acceleration. It take torque to move mass. once the mass is moving there isn't anything there to hold it back other then the conditions you are riding in. My belief is since you need to studs not to spin out of the hole the loss of acceleration you get as a result of the extra weight is a wash. That said there is a perfect balance of to many studs and to little. The way to find it is to slowly remove studs until if start spinning then add a few back to stop the spinning. Then you have the perfect balance of not to few and not to many.

Those are some fast sleds you are beating up on...Just keep the runs short and you'll be good. My guess is 1/4mile and up you're theirs for the taking.

this theory is true but, machine, condition and setup dependant...conditions change and your setup and how well it works in conditions change effctively as well...
inertia a body at rest stays at rest , a body in motion stays in motion....
the key here is inertia vs the power (i.e. torque at rest) and (horsepower) in motion available vs parasitic losses...if one was to look at a nytro's power curve stock....you will see where the power falls off and at that point if you have more mass (parasitic on the power) you will top out (max speed condition dependant)..a number of factors affect this machine more than others...one being poor aerodynamics and carrying more weight over the skis ...
when you look at a modded nytro ....whereas the torque and horsepower stays relatively flat to the rev limiter...the additional mass has less of an effect...in other words theres is power there to work the load....
stud quantity is only one of many balance factors that determines top end performance...gearing and clutching efficiency are the the others...
also...a tighter track doesnt balloon and remains true to its motion not wasting energy..

The XTX is faster because of approach angle. So weight of the track from a 121 to a 144 is not the fcator here. Put 230 studs in any sled and it will slow it down, period. Put 230 studs in an XTX and it will fall on it's face... He's way over studded for that sled.

I heard if you lose a drag race on a Nytro your wiener will fall off.
