I removed the drive axle on my sled for bearings servicing. When I got the sprocket shaft in hand, I notice that the `'teeths`' of the sprocket are 1/16'' higher than the wheel itself. I mean if you look at it from the side.

could this generate noise (mine is fact very noisy). And what if I shave the teeth level to the wheel itself ? I asume the track would wrap around the sprocket much smoother.

Andre.

I machine those teeth your talking about. Youd be suprised how far out of round the diameter of those wheels are. Also, the more flat they are with relation to the wheel, the less they push the track away and usually makes for less track ratcheting...BBY

They are designed that way. I've turned a few on the lathe myself and had one that was over one hundred thousands off across the 4 drivers. There is no doubt that this decreases efficiency, increases vibration, and causes track wander.

a friend of mine that have the the skidoo racing book told me they said not turnig it further than 40 thousands because it could change the pitch ?
