Drive Shaft play foward-reverse

I have a 2008 Yamaha Nytro and noticed when I had the sled in the air and moved the track with my hand, you can move it a few inches either way before the shaft with cogs stops it is this normal.

Yes. It is a built in slop in the chaincase.. I bet you have reverse?

Yes, normal for the reverse chaincase.
