I've never seen that happen, and I've probably rotated a few hundred engines backwards over the course of many years.Yes, be careful to not rotate primary backwards as it will jump timing chain. I think Hooray was alluding to this .
I never thought that the gravel sound would actually be gravel! Got me on that one, got to love an easy fix. But make sure bearings are good.

Yes, primary, I was picturing secondary rotating backwards if you still had a belt on it and was removing it... the fact you can wreck your motor this way blew my mind. Thanks for the correction.Yes, be careful to not rotate primary backwards as it will jump timing chain. I think Hooray was alluding to this .

Nevertheless, there were a spate of them reported last year, some guys are luckier than others. I feel it remains worth cautioning people who are unaware of the possibilities.
I would like it noted that I have used SPATE correctly in a sentence for 5 points.

I assume every knows about the gaps in tunnel by gas tank that gets feet wet. Well I haven’t sealed mine so sand and snow get in those gaps and get sand under my jack shaft and makes the noise I found out. Once I seal the gaps and clean sand out from under jackshaft AGAIN it should be fine this time I would guess.

Since I cleaned my clutches and maybe spun my primary backwards a tiny bit? Don’t really remember but pretty sure when cleaning it I was spinning like it should. I may have rotated it backwards slightly but don’t remember a 100%. Knowing what I know now I will be real mindful of that. I have put on about 200-300 miles since cleaning my clutches. Would think I am in the clear?
