I thought I'd ask you guys about the gearing and drivers for my new track.
I can't believe it but I'm going to put a new Camoplast Extreme 162 x 16 x 2 1/2" track on my non turboed RX-1M.
I plan to buy new 7 tooth 3.0" pitch drivers (Wahl brothers or Avid). Waht do you recommend? Does anyone have a set of drivers for sale?
I was wondering what gearing those of you who have this track recommend?
I have 20 and 21 tooth upper gears and 40 and 42 tooth lower gears. I am leaning toward the 20 x 42 setup. Should I reconsider?
Thanks

You may want to post this in the RX-1/RS Mountain section. This is the MTN Apex section but if your going to do all that than i would go with stock MTN apex gearing. They run those drivers right from the factory.

Frosty, I am running apex promountain skid and maverick track on my RX-1 and still using stock RX-1 gearing. Clutching is very different (heavy hitters/47/43 helix) but seems to work real well! Forgot too, stock apex 3 pitch drivers.

Frosty, am going with a 162 x 15 x 2.5 x 3.0 pitch, 7 thoots and 19-40 for gearing. I already need a new chain. currently, am running 21-40 with 151 x 16 x 2 with a lot of track speed.

Go with 19 X 42 gearing. You will lose some top speed but works better boondocking and climbing.

Since I have the gears already I think I'm going to try 20 x 42 first off. I have new 7 tooth 3.0" pitch drivers too. The speed calculator still says 90+ mph and believe me, there will times that I need it.
Thanks for the help
