I am sorry if this has been spelled-out or otherwise obviously implied; but.... should the vibration that seems to be common when using the 16" track on the RX-1 be a big consideration? I am considering pulling the trigger on a 16"x159" 2.52p but am concerned by some of Frosty's posts regarding vibration.

I thought most of the vibration was from the 3" pitch. That is when I felt most of mine and it isn't enough that I wouldn't do it again. Benefit far outweighs the vibration. To me at least.

I've got 16" wide Maverick on my RX-1 no vibration with Pro Mtn skid. Had slight vibration with Cat skid and 15" wide track though!

Frosty, i just re read your gearing calculation, and the mph are way optimistic.
20/42 will put you at about 80-85 mph with 3.0 pitch 7 tooth sprocket.
But guess what, i will running 19/40 , this give me about the same ratio, and i dont care about MPH. Am a proud fan of strong gearing. I was running 21/40 before with the 16in x 151 x 2 and ran a max 93,8 mph on GPS not Speedo, with a machined Helix. And like you said, those speed with such a huge track will be asking for trouble.
I will probably order a 18 tooths too, just in case.
Sure i will have to do some clutch tuning, but its part of the fun too.
Presently, am running 89L fully loaded with 15mm roller and 44-40 Helix with gray spring. That give me a really agressive setup with a lot of backshift and impressive midrange response. I was running low spring tension in the Secondary with the lady's 151 x 16 x 2 track. sled was Upshifting like a drag sled. 80 + mph in the 500 feets. Can't wait to do some drag race in powder this time.
