Wow these things are geared low. 120mph. I wonder if many will run 22/40 vs 21/41?

I will wait and see how the stock gears are working,21/41 could use like you said 22/40 and maybe get away with stock chain length.

should be same as viper - 9 tooth - 2.86 pitch - yamaha dosent make a 40 lower - 22 41 with a 86 link chain is tallest option at 1.86 ratio - id like to run a 24 41 on viper turbo but they dont make an 88 link chain,,, nobody does - its a borg warner chain - i called them and couldnt get one - had to remove links from a 90 or 92 - thanks scott taylor. or just buy what u want from him - gears look better. dont put 2015 or less cat #*$&@ in your case - weaker chain and gears. remember - different overdrive clutches on winder - if they do add 15% u wont need much taller if it sees 120 already. a 22 tooth upper 41 lower and 86 link chain will just squeez on.. its the same case inner as viper.
- the 86 chain i used was brand new, as a trail viper comes with 50 24 92 chain. shitty gear ratios for stock vipers - everything beets em on top end - too low at 2.08.
- only chains yamaha offers is 86 link, 90 and 92
- top small gears are 21 22 and 24
- lower is 50, 49, 48 and 41...
stock nytro 144 0r 120 - 21 39 - 1.87 ratio
stock sr viper 129 or 137- 24 50 - 2.08
stock sidewinder 129, 137- 21 41 - 1.95 - but has new clutches which add 15% - this changes things! id say with the old math - the new 1.95 is = to about 1.67 - which is perfect for a 210 hp trail sled
- we run 1.69 (23 39) in our mpi super nytros at 210hp or about 8 pounds o boost. ive seen over 130 on the gage which is off about 6% compared to viper same speed is 123. on a hard ice surface.
- we run 1.87 (22 41) in hurricane vipers at 230hp or so at 9 pounds o boost. i see 122 mph but she slows up at 110 - needs taller gears like 1.65 or so.

22-41 wil not fit the 86 link chain, its to tight...

sorry but --- WRONG - im running that combo on 2 turbos with thousands of miles - its a little difficult to get em on all the splines and lined up but diffidently not too small - theres no other yamaha option to go taller ratio than 21 41 except this - and again , this is for viper that should be the same inside --- this is the only one from yamaha. the chain adjuster was almost all the way out. works fine. actually i like the chain nice and straight up - dont like it when its adjusted in alot - your going around another corner with that adjuster all the way in. scrubben power
- heres a pic of 22 41 86 -

It will if the chain has already been stretched. Ran that gearing all last winter. Also running it on asphalt. 119 mph @ 9100 RPM with 10 tooth 2.52 drivers in 1/4 mile.

there are lots of aftermarket gears available EVO and Ulmer. I have 21, 22, 26, 27 uppers and 41, 43, 48 lowers and 86, 90, 92 chains. Next set going in for asphalt is 27/43 for 130 something MPH.

We had hyvo gears/chain in our doo RT's and they did indeed stretch a little but not a lot. I'm sure it'd be tight with a brand new 21/41 to 22 till u get some miles on it.
