Dry Gas

Anyone have any thoughts about using dry gas?? I was reading an article yesterday that said dry gas reduces the lubricity of oil. Maybe not a problem for the RX-1 but what about our other 2-strokes?? I helped a friend of mine on two occasions thaw out the fuel pumps on his Cat on real cold mornings in Caribou and Old Forge. I don't want to damage anything but how do we deal with the moisture?? Any thoughts or comments appreciated---------Thanks

From what I have been told!!!! Dry gas is not needed with Oxygenated gas, but it is needed in Canada where the gas is not oxygenated 8)

The way I remember it is that yes use some type of fuel drier but don't use the type with isopropal or methyl alcohol as the drier. It can settle out of the fuel and give your engine a shot of close to straight alcohol and possibly taking out a piston.
I remember using STP fuel treatment. It had a statement with bold letters that said NO ALCOHOL. I should probably stock up too. Powder Blue

Isopropal is ok. I've used it it for years. I just fill up every nite and add a little of it . Do not use the methenal as it will not break down the water small enough to pass thru the the jets.

The manual says not to use deicers in the gas with oxygenated fuels. Has anyone had any problems when the temps get down below 0? I know I put this stuff in the truck when the temps get that low. Had many a times when the truck would not start or would quite due to a freezing gas line. Been there, done that.

In two stroke application, especially pre-mixed fuel, methyl hydrate will cause the oil to separate. Not good obviously. Isopropyl doesn't do that and that why we use it.

If you park your sled in a heated garage (even once) condensation WILL form inside the tank, then you should use isopropyl to avoid freezing. I used it most of last winter with no problems.

I purposely don't ever buy methyl just so i don't ever mix them up for when a fellow sledder needs to borrow a bottle and being two-stroke, they need ISO not methyl. I don't think it would be a problem to use methyl in the RX-1 though.
