Dual carbides or shaper bars on your Apex?

Scott at Bergstrom will not sell me Triple points for my stock skis. ('12 Apex SE.). He stated the '11 were bad skis but fixable....but the '12 skis are set so incorrectly, he has no fix. He recommended I go back to pre '10 skis if I went OEM.

That said, it's just as easy to switch to aftermarket. I've seen mention of Slydogs or another brand. I ride mostly trails in norther IN or the icy trails of MI.

I would like to try the Triple Points. Any suggestions on which ski to switch to?

Are Shapers the same as SnowTrackers? If I went to aftermarket skis and I didn't like the Triplepoints, and wanted to try SnowTrackers.....I would need to remove the Triplepoints and install a single carbide, correct? I am guessing SnowTrackers are NOT used with Duellys?

(After a trip to the UP with my stock ski, (which I'm lucky to have survived, they were so dangerous,) I switched to the tuner ski. I did 6" out, 4" in. I understand the yamaha bars wear extremely quickly, and so far the tuners seem just "ok." with lots of pushing. That said, I'm still tweaking my suspension.)

I love this Apex....but geez it's killing me getting it dialed in so it doesn't kill me!

Snow trackers are there own thing single carbide that always stays sharp as they wear down but have a U shaped plate underneath them. Try them you will never go back. I have had many different carbides and skis it was all a waste of money and screwing around Trackers are the way for me!!!!!!! Just go on Ebay and look them up.

I like my Pilot 5.7's. 6" in the center, 4" on outer edge. The only drawback is they are made of softer plastic so don't let em wear down too much, the ski will grind away fast.

Haven't tried all of the latest and greatest on my sled but have ridden with guys that have most of the styles listed in this post!

My 06 Attak ( bought used) came with triple points on stock skis, they were dangerous, exceptional carving but lots of darting, maybe because this sled has an M20 suspension and sits a bit higher then stock? But cured the darting by putting a set of Woodys Doolys on the skis! They have worked on all of my past yamahas, all the way back to my RX-1. Yes they do push in corners and not sure about top end loss! Whereas they are old technology now, I am sure others will do more or better, but the Doolys do repair the darting issue which is both dangerous and tiring for sure !!

Wore the stock 2" carbides off my 2013 Apex at 4,200 miles, just put on 6" Bergstrome triple points with the ski saver , plugs and shime kit that he sells, I am at 5,900 miles now and they still look like new, very little if any darting, gas mileage the same as stock and carve the corners way better. Paid 175 us for the whole kit. Very happy with the new set up. Would recommend to any APEX owners.
