I have an 03 RX1 Mountain, that I'm putting on a new track. 1.25 x 151 Camoplast Ripsaw, and I'm thinking of studding. 1) Do I have to add tunnel protectors? Remember that the original track was 2 x 151.
2) How many studs should I use? I'm thinking of the 1.3 Woody's
The reason I am replacing the track is, 70% is trails and 20% is boondocking. Then I will have the 2" that I can put back on when I head to Wyoming in March. :rocks:

no matter what track you have...if you run studs you need protection...as the track balloons at top speed the studs will hit the tunnel or exchanger. There is nothing to stop it...1.3 or 1.325 is plenty...and that will give you .375 to .50 past the lug depending on stud company.

So Mr.Sled do you think then you could run A 1.6 track * tooth drivers with 1.740 studs if you used proper tunnel and heat exchanger protection ?

what drivers??? ..thats one hell of a long stud??? I would use the support nuts...

lol 8 tooth and yes it is a long stud pure sno-cross setup is pretty much the way to go around here. And yes support nuts.

What extra protection do we need in addition to the stock protectors?

:rocks: on the Mountain sleds Yamaha did not put any stud protection, not even on the front cooler. I was hopping that with a 1.25 track and 1.3 studs that I may not need to put any on since that will give me an extra .70 clearance from my stock track. This weekend I removed my track and skid, and I could see where the track had hit the exhaust.
