Yes, it was a can. And the texture is the same, but the dye is just a tad darker than the factory dye...BBY

Looks great...how it should have from the factory in my opinion..
but i've used vinyl dye for years..I used to detail cars...anything with the word dye in it is subject to fading (look at your fav black shirt that's been washed a dozen times) and cracking or peeling..
with the extremes this vinyl substrate has to go through...(the seat vinyl)sitting in a trailer on a 90 deg summer day to out on the trail at -20..you can bet your a** that there's expansion and contraction and when that happens something will fail..also can be affected by ultra violet light

LOOKS GREAT!!!!
Can you post a closer picture, if you have one?
I wonder which color of Black would match the best?

sure can, you can tell up close that the vinyl is a bit smoother on the old silver stipe portion of the seat. The dye is a bit darker and has a bit more sheen to it. Looks really good in person

BLUEBYYOU, thanks for the great tip. For 8 bucks and 20 min of masking and painting, I have the great looking seat my GT should have been made with. I was considering an upholstery shop do the fix, but for 8 bucks I'll take my chances on it cracking-peeling-fading. BTW I could not scratch through the dye with my fingernails. Pretty bitchen stuff. Two thumbs up. Will post pictures soon.
