I have a seat with a silver strip. does anybody know if i can dye that part black? and what product i could use thanks

You sure can,
I've done 2 and they have both turned out great and held up perfectly.
No flaking whatsoever.
I used black fabric dye from Napa.
Comes in a spray can just like paint.
Just make sure you prep the surface first with alchohol or kleanz easy or a similar automotive surface prep.
