Took my Apex out for the first time this season, went to start it, turned over good but then slowed down. It wouldn't start or even fire. Through my trickle charger on for a half hour, and then it started right up. Never had this happen. Do these motors need a good charged up battery to start? It was just started a few days prior, with no problems.

Yes they need a properly charged battery to start dependably, based on the age of your battery, I would suspect it is getting tired.

It's a 2 year old gel cell, but haven't used the sled in a year and a half, and never had a charger on it. After I got it running, it started fine all day. When I parked it for the night put a trickle charger on it over night. Should be good now.Yes they need a properly charged battery to start dependably, based on the age of your battery, I would suspect it is getting tired.

It is wise to invest in a good trickle / maintenance charger and keep it on all during the off season.....
