Hello

I have a set of fox float evol r shocks and i am looking for a starting point for my air pressure in both the main chamber and evol chamber. My sled is a fx nytro mtx 08. And i weigh around 240ibs..

Thanks

YZViper:

I'd try 150 in Evol Chamber and 70 - 75 in the main. That's the starting point for the Skinz Concept Front End, and it would be a good place to start with the stocker front end too. Adjust in 5psi increments and make sure you adjust with the skis off the ground.

Good Luck,

OTM

Main chamber set to desired ride height/sway control 70-120

Evol chamber at zero

Valving for bottoming resistance

;)!

Interesting Rick,

Pressurizing the EVOL chamber only effects the end of the stroke anyway, so zeroing the EVOL chamber has the effect of increasing main chamber volume. More volume = less spring rate progression, so your front end would feel softer throughout most of the range right? Does it roll easier or more consistently?

Are you on the harder side of compression damping?

Sorry for all the questions, just curious......more stuff to try this winter!

Thanks,
OTM

Yes you're on the right track. Basically your adjusting the total volume by the amount of pressure in your Evol chamber, more volume (less Evol pressure) less spring rate increase. If your spring rate increases too aggressively you will end up with a harsh rebound that cannot be tuned out in valving. You're basically using your Evol's like one of the aftermarket piggyback air chambers by running them at zero.

I ran this set up on my last set of Evol X's and they were the best riding shocks I have had yet. Substantially better than my X-1's (although I'm sure there was a lot of performance to be gained in tuning with them)
