The ECU and electronics are all cat, the chaincase and gears and chain are all made by cat. The gears and chain will likely be spec'd stronger then cats 12/13 gears/chain which were china crap.
Cat is said to be sourcing their 14 clutch and chaincase parts all from USA suppliers rather then china. Cat knows their stuff for the last two yrs has been sub par.
I expect the new Viper to be fine with only 135hp, the cat turbos stock(177hp) were mostly decent, but when boosted up(240-260hp) we all saw the poor quality china parts fail. 135 HP with yammie clutches would have been fine even with the current cat china parts.
think of Viper as a zr7000 with good yammie clutches.

This is the ZR7000....it will have vents in front for the rad below
comparo pic...viper left, ZR7000 right

I assume there will be a heat shroud on top of the exhaust? I know its supposed to be cooled
From the huge open hole in the tunnel but what happens when you are on ice or hardpack conditions and no snow is being kicked up on the headers to keep them cool? The fuel tank sits directly above the pipes/pipe i assume.

The LATTER is from their supplier. Yes it's the jackshaft they are talking about. Why??? Because of the Viper using Yamaha clutches, the jackshaft would have to be redone (splined) on the secondary clutch side end of this shaft.
Does this put this to rest?
Why question the guys that have seen it, who have talked with Yamaha face to face and have actually ridden it?

I saw a spec sheet here in Sweden for the new Arctic Cat (Yamacat) ZR 7000 SP. Says 125hp and 505lbs. XF 7000 SP also 125hp but 511lbs.

Pretty much sums up my feelings. If she had the apex motor in it I would be putting mine up for sale for a down payment on the Viper. ONLY because I now have a phazer for backup so if she had to go in for warranty, I'd still have something to ride. Being the nytro motor, and with so many unknowns as far as how the quality will be coming out of the cat factory, Im gonna hold onto the apex for another couple seasons

I would not worry too much about the weight figures, these procross chassis feel light! I own a 06 apex and a 12 cat turbo 128". My cat turbo is probably damn heavy on paper, but it feels lighter then a nytro on the trails. The steering feels lighter then any sled ive rode, I run pilot skis on the turbo and my apex, best thing you can do for these chassis. These chassis are awesome, it will be by far the best handling yammie to date.
The viper will be even lighter feeling then my turbo im sure.
There is a heat shield above the pipes to keep heat off fuel tank, that is a given. The open tunnel for cooling should help with the temps on right side where muffler is.
As long as they address the chaincase issues this sled will be solid as hell IMO.

Copied from the cat site'This clean 1049cc 4-stroke triple produces 135-class leading horsepower and delivers excellent fuel economy. And EFI optimizes performance in all temperatures and altitudes. ' I spoke with a dealer who is a friend here and he said they are 20 lbs lighter than the nytro.

Viper is 135 HP and 487lbs...40lbs lighter than the Nytro according to multiple dealers. We'll see what the rags publish once they actually weight a production model

Yeah, who knows how much they weight until they are all full ready to ride. I personally am not worried about a 20 pound leeway on a 500+ pound sled. Drop in the bucket.

Yamaha themselves said it was 130hp......for the life of me I cant understand why you guys keep hanging onto the 135hp number. Honestly, look at that exhaust. Not too mention multiple people have said it feels down on power compared to the Nytro.

Maybe because cat rates it at 135hp?
