I just replaced all the loose rivets in my rear section heat shield. They were all loose and it vibrated like crazy at idle. (when it wasnt packed with ice and snow) I also had to drill an extra hole where it was cracked. After one day and 140 miles of riding it is cracked again and vibrating.

Can I take it off? Anyone done this? I have heard of fires and I dont want one.... yet...

Comments, sugestions??

Thanks
Tony

Do this. Works for me. You just have to put an aluminum plate under the muffler to cover the hole. Lose 20lb at least. I use a carbon fibre Micron of an R1 bike. Sounds sweet, not too loud.

I went through the repair/replace stage, as there were rattling issues with the stock exhaust heat shields. Then finally, when I went with the QC-1, I did not bother with the heat shields at all. Now, no rattles and no regrets!

Bum blasted?? I guess so, if you say so. Feel better saying that?

Carbs, yes. K&N filters and high flow exhaust. 162 jets, 2.5 turns, #4 on the needles give or take.

Mileage is still good. Mainly the weight loss.

Stock cat bars. LED tail/brake light mounted on the back of the grab bar. It's got some snow on it there. Not much need for lights mountain riding. It's just a courtesy for the trail home.

No offense Charles Manson, but to me, it looks as if your sled is being bum-blasted. :moon:

for those that dont speak german the translation is "I think that he knows, what it meant, of personal experience." i knew 4 years of german would pay off some day.

als ich in Deutschland stationiert wurde, fand ich, daß die meisten Leute eglish. sprachen, als ich Deutsches sprach, das sie nicht mich irgendwie verstehen konnten.

Oh really, only a little? I thought most of America was Spanish.

Mine is limited at best.
