i know this topic has been done to death.
had a rattle that dealer said was exhaust shield.
upon further inspection the flares where the donuts & clamps are. are cracked or completly gone. rest of y-pipe is good.
i still have warranty. dealer says they will cover.
has anyone had problems with the pipes on the other side that connect directly to the motor ? what should i be looking for.
under warranty do they replace everything ? donuts, clamps etc ?

Yamaha will replace Y-pipe (probably they will use the new SS pipe instead of titanium). Clamps should still be OK. Donut are inexpensive wear items, so no big deal if they don't cover it!

Good Luck!

To tell ya the truth I just replaced the donuts on my sled and they railed me $15 a piece for just the donuts. Anyone else pay this or did i just get railed?

$20 a piece last year up here in canuckville... by the time i was out the door with tax's... better part of a bill.

i had done donuts last year, $20 each. they still look god but going to replace again since they are apart.

stainless y-pipes stand up better ?

i didnt have to put on the stainless y's myself but from all the write ups here... the word on the street is yes... better longevity.. and much cheeper too!

I ended up replacing them both this year with SS after 8,000 miles. The first one went at 5,000 miles and the other after 8,000 miles.
