I was talking to a muffler shop about this problem...I was thinking of replacing them with a after market something of better quality but like they said if you go with a better or harder DONUT it might tend to wear out your HEADERS which is worst...cost a lot more to replace HEADERS than gaskets every so often and the other thing is YAM will not warranty them if we use after market parts.
The other issue with donuts failing is the heat cicles...they get RED hot on a W.O.T. run then you hit some loose snow that cools them and this goes on and on...the tempature VARIES big time not like a car or bike where the tempature is in a more constant running tempature and 1 last thing is VIBRATION, a sled runs a lot rougher terrain and has a lot more torsional twist putting excessive stress on "Y" pipes and donuts...
I guess will just have to INSPECT them a little more often and keep a spare set of DONUTS in your tool chest...it beats having to replace or rebuild MOTORS every 10k or so...LOL
