I just picked up an 08 Apex MTX this fall. Haven't had a chance to ride it, as we've had almost no snow in the Twin Cities area. Finally said we need to at least give it a run around the yard, as we've got a trip we're leaving for on Jan 2. Well ran it 30 feet and it went into safe mode. I know there is an exhaust leak. Would this cause it to go into safe mode? How do I figure out what's causing it?

It's the speed sensor? We hadn't gotten over 10 mph. I'll check codes this afternoon. What code would that be?

Oh, how do I check the codes? I guess I didn't get a manual with it.

Any error codes will be flashing on the instrument cluster. Exhaust leak will not cause a trouble code. Possibly the tors.

Throttle Over Ride. If there is a problem with it you will not be able to give the sled much throttle without it running REALLY crappy until you let off the throttle.
There is a microswitch inside the throttle housing that could be bad. Or the throttle may just need adjusted.

Got it on the TORS. Thanks.
A couple things:
1) I figured out I was low on coolant. We had been doing a mod to the tunnel, putting a box on it for ice fishing. We had to disconnect the hoses on the side of the tunnel and lost some antifreeze. So we replenished the coolant after I noticed the coolant light was staying on. That seems to be better.
2) The yellow warning light was flashing for a little while tonight, and the little motor indicator was flashing in the control panel/speedometer thingy. It started doing little rev/bursts and then stopped on its own. Then I was able to run it around the yard for about 10 minutes with no issues. This was the first run after I had replenished the coolant. I wasn't dressed for the -6 degrees, so I couldn't keep going.
I've got an appointment at a dealer for service first thing tomorrow morning. I think I 'll keep it for peace of mind, even if they are able to tell me everything is okay now, I'll feel better about my trip next week.
Any other thoughts/suggestions?
Thanks for the input so far.

If you disconnected the hoses on the side of the tunnel, then there's a good chance you got air in system and need to bleed your coolant. Could explain why sled is going into limp mode. Does temp light come on?

The temperature light did come on. That's what made me check the coolant. Once I topped off the coolant, it seems good on that light. But then the yellow light and engine icon were blinking and the motor surged on its own. Then that went away. I'm confused. What does a dude need to do to bleed the cooling system?

Yea not sure if what you're describing is related to potential air in system but when read you had hoses disconnected and didn't mention anything about bleeding, thought you might have air in lines and was causing over heat condition. If you leave sled run long enough does temp light come back on or has it not come back on since? To bleed there's a bleed screw on rear cross over tube in back of sled where you elevate rear of sled.

So far it has not come back on. But again, it was just a 10 minute ride because of the cold and my lack of warm clothes.
Do you open that screw while it's running to bleed the cooling system?

Thanks for all the input. I'm hoping this is the ticket and I don't have anything big. I did take it to a shop this morning. I don't have the pressure tester to do the bleed properly. Hoping it's an easy in and out. Will post an update.

these sled have a warm up mode. light on dash will stay lit till coolant temp warms up. If you try and give it throttle it will fart stumble, etc. As soon as light goes out your good to drive off
