My father in law has gone in to our local Yamaha dealer and asked for a price on an ltx se with mpi turbo. He is a skidoo guy tired of the inconsistent speed of his machine and the lack of dealer courtesy. He really likes the idea of 180 plus hp turbo power... Anyway, the dealer priced the machine at 15000$ another 3200$ for the turbo and he is unsure of installation charges as he says his mechanic has never done one... This dealer has one viper ordered for a turbo and if my in law goes for the deal he will have 2. Dealer says he will have to send his mechanic to Toronto for some training on installing... Point is by the time it's all said and done this may be a 19000$ sled.... The dealer is supposed to get back to him so these are guessed numbers but it just seems a little unorganized if you ask me. Pricy too especially when you can get a turbo 1100 cat for way cheaper. Any thoughts? Keep in mind this is Canadian pricing. Seems to me like this is not a very good incentive to get more buyers.

Easy answer...
Drive West and see Ron Knapp at Knapp's Yamaha.
Then look up Hurricane in Prescott.

You will keep the same three year warranty on the sled and we will cover engine damage caused by our turbo kit for a year.Thats better then the one year Yamaha warranty that your left with upon purchasing the turbo kit from them. You will also get an extra 18hp with the Hurricane Kit and the INSTALLED price is $4100 for the Hurricane 193hp turbo kit.Call Knapps Yamaha (613 925 5149) for a price on a sled and they have a trade in on the show room floor as well right now

If you're looking for the most bang for the buck the 1100 turbo is the sled to have. I've seen brand new leftovers for around 11,500-$12000. Add $300 for an ecu flash and you have 250+hp. If you're not brand loyal or absolutely need to ride a skidoo or yamaha the cat turbo is a great machine. For many loyal yamaha guys, myself included, paying the added price for the turbo is worth it when the outcome is owning a 190hp viper.

Does the $4100 include the clutch kit?

Barry I am curious if you have ridden a 1100 turbo, those pigs are HEAVY. Ok if you never go off trail I suppose but if weight did not matter I would still be riding an Apex. Why do you think Cat is putting Yamaha engine in there new Pantera?

Ya I've ridden the cat turbo, sure they're heavy, but if I was concerned about weight I wouldn't be on a yamaha either. Actually if you equip a viper with a stage 1 turbo kit with an innercooler so it's equally matched to the 1100 turbo the weight difference would be minimal at best. We could ask yamadog how much money he has spent to get his viper to 250hp. For the cat it costs less than $300 and there is no tuning needed. I'll be completely honest with anyone when I say that if u want big power for cheap go with the cat turbo. On that note I have a turbo on my viper and have paid the extra $ to get the power I want on a yamaha engine so that's how I truly feel about the hp game.

Don't want to derail this post with Cat info but the 1100 turbo is almost 100 ponds heavier than the Viper almost 67 pounds of that on the front, that is the big reason when I went from the M8 I went Viper instead of 1100 turbo. Ok I guess if you road ride but I do not if I can help it. Back on this post, 1100 turbo would have been cheaper in the long run but the Viper for me is SO much better.

Back to the question. My dealer matched my 2015 viper mtx le 162 turbo installed to the same msrp of the 2015 cat m9000 at $15,800 usd. If you can get your sled with the turbo for close to the same price I think it's the better option. My father in law has gone in to our local Yamaha dealer and asked for a price on an ltx se with mpi turbo.
