I love my new Attak, but I wish it rode powder better.

I am seriously considering extending it, maybe even 151x1.5.. I saw a few threads on this, but was wondering what people thought of thier extended Attaks after some time on them.

Any of you who extended theirs get enough miles on to form an opinion on deep powder performance?

How many folks have done it and how'd you do it?

btw- it's looking like we might have another 3 weeks of riding - snowing outside right now. They expect 7 inches by tomorrow afternoon!!

I love mine!!! I have no problems with handling, I do have apex mtn. ski's they work really good. If I can help you out in any way let me know!!

My riding is done for the year, but the mod's have just begun!! 2 smokers don't know the power of the dark side!! :4STroke:

Looks AWESOME!!

who's tunel extensionis that? Is there a big difference in the powder? How deep have you rode in?

I appreciate the offer of help. It might be my summer project!

Hey - does mods like this effect the warranty?

Yep, I was there to see this sled just rip through the deep running the powerlines. I'm still having awsome memories. lol
I am actually in the process of converting my Attak over to a 144 with the 1.5 crossover track.

Goodluck with your project and you'll be glad you did it if you run off trail alot.

How much top end do you lose on the lakes or trails with the extension?

Yes I did make my set up, tunnel & rail ext. You will loose some top end there is no way around it. Out west I could only get about 80 to 85 mph with mountain gearing. I was only runnig at 9900 rpm though. This will be dialed in better next year. O-ya this thing will put a smack down on the fst.
My inlaws have a fst switchback and a classic. They actualy run good. But polaris quality. Not good! Before my sled got stretched we did a nice ride up in Ely MN the attak could take The fst switchback start to finish no problem. I must say when we where out west he could get me on top end a little, but i will restate I had mountain gearing I think I dropped 2 teeth on top. He still had the stock gears. He wished he had geared his down. These sleds are hard on belts. They never did blow one but that nice burning rubber smell was in the air when we hit the deep snow! Anyway's I love my sled life is good!

what do you think your top end would have been with stock gears?

I am using the 9 tooth skidoo drivers, They work good but check the run out in them after you press them on. I had to true mine up on the lathe.
I did not want my speedo and odometer screwed up bad buy running the 8 tooth drivers.
Its hard to say what my top end would of been. i ran out of snow before i could find out. I did change my gearing back to stock when i got back home. I don't have any problems with hyfax, but it's always on my mind. I will stick a ski out into fresh snow when ever I can or drag a foot now and then. I will be putting the ice scatchers on next year. i have used them in the past and they work good.

How much clearence is there with the front heat exchanger with the 9 tooth drivers, any problems with ice buildup? Am going to convert my Attak just don't know what track 1.5 or 2"

Does anybody know if this would have an impact on the warranty? would yamaha still cover everything under YES?
