Hello All
we all know that storage is crappy on the phazer. I was always running low on fuel on my sled trips compared to all the other riders in my group.
then I found this neat system that kinda mimics the Skidoo Linc system. its made by Kimpex and it work very well so far. so now I have extra fuel when I need! the bracket will hold larger rotopax fuel tanks but I think this size will work for me.
it was really simple to install just 4 bolts hold it all together. and it's not a bank breaker
the locking clips feel sturdy and should last
Kimpex also make a expandable storage bag and carry all rack too.

You NEED a heat shield, trust me! Or mount that length wise on the left side of the tunnel and install an angled tip to blow the exhaust to the right.

X2 on heat shield. Got 2 different rotopax gas cans to boil in that location on the 09 phazer rtx/x without heat shield and we went smaller with can too. Exh turnout or heat deflector is nessasary

wow, thanks for the info.. do you think that reflective heat tape is enough if I were to stick it on the fuel tank?

Did not try it yet. Might be enough.

That should work, nice job! I just had the Ropax mount bolted right on the tunnel of my phazer xtx and used the 2gal Ropax tank, it sat alot lower than with the Kimpex connect, the Ropax tank I was using was not as high as yours either, I did use a turn out on the exhaust, never had any heating issues of the tank from the exhaust. Here is the heat shield I made. works great! and looks not too shabby either.. no more issues with a hot fuel tank.

Another great option for increased fuel capacity is to swap in the 8.1 gallon tank from a 2007 model. I easily gained another 15 to 20 miles of range with that tank.

I didn't know they had a bigger tank. perhaps this might be a summer upgrade. did you have any issues with the fitment ? it does just fit under the seat though right?

2007 models had a single wall 8.1 gallon tank. Starting in 2008, they all had a 7 gallon double wall tank to meet the new EPA requirements at that time. The larger capacity tank from the '07 fits right in as is. Your original fuel pump and gas gauge sender also fit perfect. The only change is that you can't reuse the tank side covers without some slight modifications. The '07 models didn't have those at all. It's a simple mod with a utility knife.
