Yeah, I had a local boat builder/machine shop bend it for me out of 3/4" aluminum pipe (approx 1 1/16 OD). Then I made a some aluminum slugs to fit inside the pipe. Rivited them in place and drilled and tapped the holes for the bumper mounting bolts.
It's longer but is lighter then the OEM steel bumper. Main reason I put it on there is so it extendes about 4" further back then the stock one. It gives you more leverage for lifting the sled out of a hole. It's something we used to do back in the day of riding short tracks in the mountains, an old mountain rider trick

Well I tried it my self, found a piece of aluminum and went to work
First thing was to cut all the holes in it... this took time.
test fit..
side two.. and a ready rod to keep it straight.
and in place..
Not too bad... I have to wait for my new tail light to come but it's ok in the location it is now. I'm gonna try it the weekend see how it works out, then I have to take it all apart and get painted. The ready rod has to be replaced with aluminum bars with threaded ends. Also have to taper the ends some way on the back end of the tunnel. I'm thinking a bit of work with the jig saw.It was alot of work but I'm a sucker for punishment.
ohh and the amount of beer it took to complete it...

Gregdec1, any issues with heat from the exhaust damaging the gas can?

Here's what I did. Kolpin pack (5.6 litres) with the mount. The turn out was cut at a muffler shop from a U-pipe. I then wet sanded the pipe smooth and polished it up to make it look good. Absolutely no issues with leakage from the tank. And the exhaust did not melt anything. I have put on 700 kms this way, and the tank never got warm at all. The 700 kms were from 4 days of riding, almost all on groomed trails.

OK, mounted a Skidoo acc gas can the same as Gregdec1 and rode 500kms this weekend with out issues. Temps were + 12 celsius on Sunday and tank never even got hot at all. Riding conditions were from slow to fast trails, highspeed lake running, and deep snow riding. I used a Yamaha turn out and mounted my tailight where the rear reflector was. I would reccomend to anybody with an XTX or MTX to use the Skidoo acc gas can and mount.

i did this years ago, found some old pics of it, it's held up perfect over the years, fuel can and mount is from Mountain addiction, lots easier then messing with mounting plates, etc, basically 2 grovves in bottom of tank, held on with a cotterpin. added a exhaust turnout and some heat tape as a precaution, but do not need the tape
