hey guys my sled is ratcheting......... under extreme load and mainly on hard accelleration on hard pack or in deep powder feels like ratcheting.. any ideas... i have tried a new belt and adjusting the chain in the chaincase and tightened the track what else could it be?? Is this possible??? let me know what you think Jason

Check to see that the extros arent slipping on the driveshaft. Otherwise, there might be too much track bow up front under power, so suck up that limiter strap one or two holes and make sure that track is tight. Also, what extros do you have, and they better not be kimpex!

If it was the chain or gears, youd know because youd be cringing...

You have control rod to max transfer?

Well i have skidoo extros 9tooth, and i do have quite a bit of transfer! last thing i just checked my chaincase and found the chain was loose! i just put new bearings and a new chain adjusted and put on about 500 and rechecked with no problems! now just checked and it was loose about 2 to 3 turns adusted finger tight and backed off a little. WILL IT BE OK? gear lube is dark......... any ideas

Just help a guy couple weeks ago with the same issue. Check your drivers to see if they are bent over. Both of his were bent right over.

i will check the extros........ i also punched the track out my self by cutting windows out could that be a prob? last night i did adjust the chaincase and no difference......... i cant hold it to the bar in deep snow and there is a lot of that......... PS michmobiler...... if i ship it i will by a brand NEW APEX XTX .......... with out a doubt!!!!!!! so i don't think i will SHIP IT

I thinking your best bit is to pull it apart and look everything over. I'm still saying the drivers are bad. If they are not to bad you could turn the around and run them. Sucks when things like this happen.

Heres why I said check the sprockets: Before a certain point in time, you could get doo sprockets on their own from a dealership. Then later, you had to buy them on the shaft (only way to get them) then press them off, then press onto new shaft. With all this pressing, the sprockets are looser then when new, maybe not by a huge amount, but by some.

On that note, I seem to recall that someone here had slipping sprockets and had to utilize plastic from plastic duotangs and wedge in between the driveshaft and sprocket to keep from slipping.

So are you sure theyre not slipping?

Also, make sure that theyre not worn out, I have slipped worn out kimpex extros on a 97 SX700 long track.

And for good measure, make sure that they didnt slide down the shaft and have the outter teeth hit the inside of the track.
