Did you see yamahas report saying you cant test the antifreeze with a standard tester its suppose to be a diiferent antifreeze, think it was in snow tech mag.

Don't worry. You don't need another heat exchanger. What happened is perfectly normal given the conditions. If you wanted to MAKE your sled overheat, you would need three things to do this easily. 1) a new motor - not yet broken in, 2) a warm day, and 3) hard packed or ice covered snow with no loose snow on top.
My Nytro overheated twice on the first ride - both times when the trail turned into a plowed gravel road with no loose snow - and it happened within a quarter mile, and it was around 30 degrees.
Since then, 1,000 trouble-free miles.
Same overheating on the first ride problem happened two years ago with my Rev, and the year before that with the previous Rev. Same conditions - hardpacked snow and a liquid cooled sled.
That's normal with liquid sleds - but never a problem with my 550 fan Rev - she'll run in any temp and on bare ice all day long.

i had problems in the beginning with poor snow conditions. now that there is plenty of snow i havnt seen that light on since. i would just make sure coolant level is good and find some good snow. snowmobiles still depend on snow and the cold IMO to keep them cool, even if they are a four stroke

Were you riding fast enough to get good airflow through the radiator? If the fans were running you would have heard them when you shut the sled off.
