For those of you in the Western States, this is a great way to find out how much snow there is where you ride. Click on the link and then select the state you ride in. Then click on the red dot where you ride. Then choose "7-day (standard sensor)" and it will give you real time snow depth and temperature for the last week by the hour! You can also go into the "Snow Water Equivalent Graphs" and find out the moisture for previous years---ahhh 1997 was a great year!

Snow site

And we Canadians could use a site like this (our weather people leave a lot to be desired for accuracy  )

Powder Blue--I'm glad you like the site. We don't have alot of snow yet (14-20"), but one of the ski resorts at 9-10,000 feet reported 64" of snow last week--they opened today. I just want to ride already!

I did some searching for you easterners, but came up empty  .

You call 14-20 in of snow NOT ALOT???

Man if we get that much in a Whole season where we live its called a normal winter!! :(

Im jellous!!

welterracer--1-2 feet of snow works ok for trail riding, but for mountain riding there are lots of rocks, fallen trees bushes etc. We usually need a good 3-4 foot base to even start riding, rocks and sleds don't mix. An average year it snows an aggregate of 30-35 feet, but it never accumulates to more than 10 to 12 feet. In 1997 we had an aggregate total of 55 feet. The best riding contions are when you have a good base with 12-18" of new. It's truly better than....well let's just say it's alot of fun!

If this is accurate I'm hitting the area this weekend :!: :!: :!: 8) :D :p
