Our trails are finally open, so I put the curves on the Apex. Various snow conditions, with about 18 on the ground, some loose, some packed, some mud some ice...
Hey, these skis work!! We have a test track loop of almost a mile, and I went through a gateway opening, with a turn and bumps (rock wall) sick fast, for an Apex. Control is awesome. The best way to describe it is to say there is a lot of centering feel, from the heel pressure, and you work against this pressure to dial in the amount of turn you want. There is zero unwanted motion. And it turns without ski lift. They are so predictable, even on off camber, rutted trails, and they work pretty good in powder too! The stability at high speed is confidence inspiring, and my early season guess is they are good for (mentally) another 20mph ..LOL.
Our Vector with stock skis, shims and duallys is trash compared to this thing now...guess I'll have to anty up for another pair...LOL
Great job, guys. Apex is a riot in the turns...

What would the ski have to do with ski lift?

I wonder if its because the ski's are not overly agressive.Meaning the outside ski will push a little allowing the inside ski to stay down. Unlike something like C&A Pro's that will bite hardpack like your on railroad tracks causing the inside ski to lift.
Just my thoughts?!?!

Well, everything, really. If you figure that no grip and total push would never cause lift, the opposite would be true..too much grip, along with soft suspension/geometry etc would cause the chassis to roll over. Duallies create a lot of push, but get rid of darting and some ski lift, but when they bite, the lift is back. The best you could hope for is consistency, where you don't get the occasional surprise lift. I like to pick up the inside ski when cornering hard, but I also like it to be predictable. These skis somehow accomplish this. I'm sure this was part of the goal in designing them. I have the recommended stud boy shaper carbides on them.
I always compare sled handling to cars...you see the inside wheel lift on even F1 cars when cornering...they have tremendous bite on that outside tire to do that...same with skis. Balance that out and you have the best you can get.
Sno xr is right...they are not overly aggressive, but extremely predictable.

Many of us have enjoyed these skis for just about a year now - They work as advertised. I will NEVER run a sled with out them!
This is how they look after one season, you can actually see in the wear pattern what Nick and Sean are talking about how their design works;

That's pretty impressive. We had some freezing rain, so we got to test some more...you know when there's about 8" snow with a crust..some sleds are DEADLY. Like our Vector...almost rips the handlebars out of your hands when she digs in under the crust. The Apex? With the curves? Like a drive in the park...just paste it and go where you want..very nice!

Where do you buy carbides for these skis?

Use the same the hole pattern as the C&A's. They recommend the Stud Boy Shaper Bars which I have on now. I did get some Bergstroms that I am anxious to try as well. Give Sean a call. He is a GREAT GUY and will answer any questions you have and spend whatever time is needed to help you. They are truly quality people that want each and EVERy customer to be 1,000% satisfied!

Nick set me up with the recommended Shaper bars. At this point, I wouldn't change a thing. I was thinking about the 13 mm sway bar, but I've got enough steering, and I do like to be able to pick the skis when I want. Plus I've broken 3 heavier swaybars on my old RX1's...but never broke the stock bars.
