Last weekend I had the chance to take my 07 RTX out for a good run. I had been out for a 20 mile run earlier in the week and had overheating problems mainly own doing, got the dealer to sort it out and went out Sun. This Baby real does ROCK!! I went with 2 buddies who owned skido Rev's 600 SDI's who by the way has been needling me ever since I bought this last Mar on what a mistake I made buy "going to the dark side." This machine because of the weight wouldn't handle as well as the revs in the twisty trails, on how it would cost me more than then at the gas pumps and of course I would never never keep up to them.
Well after running the railbed for 60 miles we filled up I was 1 litre less than the best of the two Rev's, well it was a fluke they said. So off to the twisty and bumpy trails, they tried to loose me but I was on their asses all the way through them. "Well not bad for a heavy poor handling gas guzzler" I said, they were pretty quiet. Then we crossed the end of Halibuton lake lots of tracks and sleds there, well they decided to bait me so I let the get a head start I went by them as if they were standing still on the shore they couldn't say to much as there mouths were full of crow. They wanted to try my machine, guess we have 2 more coming to "The Dark Side" they are making their deals today for new YAMAHAS. :ORC
Surprised not I knew that once they tried my sled they'd be switching..
The only down fall I found was the handlebar warmers they are poor, I thought in 07 that problem was resolved. Is there a cure for it or not without going to the 06 handlebars and the 07 wiring harness, any help here is appreciated.
PS: on the second fill up I was 1 1/2 litres less than the best REV sdi Hum!! Quite happy with this sled and especially the gas consumption so far.

Congrats on switching to the "Darkside". I love my 07 Apex RTX. I dont think the hand warmers are that bad, mine work pretty well.

I just got to take my Brand New '07 APEX RTX out last weekend. I got it in March and have been dieing to ride it.
So far I love it! My buddies have Rev 800s and all spring, summer, and fall they made fun of me...sorta like "giddy up go" was experiencing. By mid summer I was thinking I bought the wrong sled and was giving in to their "no inkling" opinions.
The first ride, I took the RTX out and I was stunned. (I came off an F7 SP) The frickin' power was amazing and ADDICTING!!! I just kept wanting to to goose her, lol. The sled is AWESOME! Quality, craftmanship, motor, etc...everything is very impressive. Give it up to Yamaha for a great sled!!!!
The only thing I noticed so far was the ski lift. I think from what I've been reading I'm going to lower my Fox shocks to 65 PSI and tighten my limiter strap a notch (hole). I'm going to tug hill sunday...hoping it'll help.
...also, the handwarmers sucked. My hands were freezing. My Cat used to be so hot that I couldn't even put my gloves on them without burning my hands off. What can we do about this???
Yamaha Man...lets ride!

Yamaha Man:
I set mine up mostly to what I believe Nate told me
Limiter Strap: increase one hole tighter
Control Rod: fullly tighten
Anti Bottom Stopper: medium
Rear Compression Dampner: 16 clicks out of poss 20 clicks
Front Air Shocks 55-60 lbs
I put dolley carbides on the skis
This rails and holds the skis on the trail so far for me. Hope it may help you.

Hey giddy,
Was that you sitting across from the plane in Haliburton this weekend? Riding with two doos. Wasn't there a polaris with you also? Do you live up here?
Head lake didn't look too good as far as ice.
How did the apex handle all of the slush?
Cheers,
Rick.

That would have been me Rick.
Ya that was a 600 polaris dragon, okay sled pig on gas though. As far as slush wasn't that bad solid enough underneath a little slush on top cause they have flooded it for the upcoming races according to the OPP. LOTS OF TRACKS THERE THEN. I live in Lindsay and sled up there a fair bit, what about you.

I live half way between Haliburton and Carnarvon.
Trail is about 500 yrds from my house. Ya ride here alot? Are you planning any long overnight trips this year? I would really like to go on a couple night trips north somewhere riding from here. My riding buds are pussies and like to be home by dark! LOL! They all ride doos. Maybe gonna turn back into pumpkins after dark!
Let me know, maybe we can get something hooked up.
Cheers,
Rick.

Giddy up go, try the front shocks at 37 psi before you do anything else. I run mine there with very little ski lift at all and she handles the bumps better too. My opinion.

I switched to the Dark side from Ski-doo and I haven't looked back yet. I am going to be riding with the guy that bought my old sled this weekend. I can't wait to spank it, even with the guy riding weigthing 50 lbs less than me.
