First impressions of the 2009 RS Venture GT

I really didn't notice track howl , though the conditions the way they were you probally would not have! I think imo that camoplast will eventually offer quiet tracks for all. I know Artic Cat Traded patent's with Ski doo for the motor reverse, in turn for the articulating rear skid and the quiet tracks, I belive.

I just ordered an 09 Venture GT! Looks like a great package for long distance touring. Thanks for all the reports. What a great site!

After my 05 RS Venture that I bought new, there is no way I will buy another first year yami. I had also bought a new 02 Viper another bad
experience. I have to admit I love the look, more rider forward, F.I., etc. I could see me saying maybe this is the year they get it right the first time, but times are tough so there's no money in the budget anyway. Good luck to all you test pilots. Keep us posted.

The new Venture isn't exactly a first year sled. The basic frame / chassis that is found on the Vector has been around since 2003. In 2006 the more rider forward ergonomics were introduced and it was then called the DBII (but it is basically the same frame as the DBI). The rear suspension is also nothing new. I think it should be very reliable as it is using all of the best components from the Yamaha parts bin.

anyone kmow whay they detuned down to 125 HP or so? I"d of liked the 138 Nyto version. I ordered one anyway. Sounds like a great package overall.

Thanks Jeff,

I was nice to have free reign and play with the suspension and set it up the way I liked it. Much easier than the Old Venture.

For studdog,

Better low end torque band, and to reduce harmonic resonnance.

It's a nice motor. ;)!

Hondo, I hope your correct. You helped me setup my wife's 07 Venture. She loves it. I would cheerfully give up power to reduce noise and howl.

I'll post a couple of videos when the 2009 Demo Truck arrives Saturday April 12, 2008.

Demo rides will be held at the Lake View Restaurant, Saint Agatha, Maine.

There is no power reduction. The motor is the 1049 cc FI FX Nytro Motor that has been detuned to 125 - 128 hp, depending on who you talk to.

The sled has more than enough power for touring needs, and is much quieter.

You should like the sled! ;)!

HEY has any of you checked out the canada version TF it has mountain skis , rear rack, rear bumper , there is a video on sled talk!

Tuned that way it will get better gas mileage also.... ;)! MM.

Concur,

5% better fuel economy, however the fuel tank has been reduced to 9.4 gallons.

I don't see any increase in range. It shoud remain about the same.

I wish they left the larger tank, but it is what it is.

Time to check out the TF video on sled talk.

I jumped over and saw the video. I like the luggage rack, and rear bumper which is also a tow hitch.

The luggage rack might be a good spot for a gas can, or whatever.

Bottom line: There is plenty of room for solo and two up touring. ;)!

That windshield looks different than the one in the pictures on the Yamaha web site. What is coming stock on the machine?

I saw a prototype at show in Ontario.

Windshield is huge. Has brackets , etc. due to size.

Mirrors are on windshield.

Both size of shield (large) and mirrors on windshield are positive develoments, IMO.

I just got back from trying out some of the new '09s, and the Venture's have stepped up a notch after the move to the DBII chasssis! The GT was just great over the bumps, but the TF was even better. Where I would hang on for dear life on the short Nytro's and the XTX bouncing around, the TF was just cruising over them, with just a little shake coming through the seat and bars! I was truly astonished!!! What a great sled this has turned out to be! The GT was set up a bit harsh, as the Nytro's, but the TF was just perfect for the terrain/trails today. No bottoming, but still VERY comfortable at cruising speeds. Allthough I would have liked to have a little longer seat, at least the drivers part of it, it was a bit cramped for me ar 6'2".

The Nytro RTX SE was a brick with a track! WOW!

Anyway, it's allways fun trying out the new sleds!!! ;)! I had a great day with Yamaha Scandinavia! :-o
