It doesn't matter if your base is 200 or 2000" if you don't have a couple of feet of fresh on top of the setup base it's always tougher to carve. What I was really asking is how much fresh powder were you riding in? If you were in less than 12" or so of new snow expect it to be somewhat more difficult to carve than in 24". Less than 12" or so is really tough to carve smoothly in because your skis are always hitting lumps of crap under the snow hence bucking you off.
As for suspension everyone is different as to which part of their riding day they are willing to compromise on. IMO all suspension settings are a compromise, what works good for one type of riding or condition detracts from another generally. For me I run my front shocks as loose as they will go so I can pull the sled over easier, this comes at the expense of trail handling. Trails for me are just a necessary evil I have to put up with to get to where I really want to be. If you don't get off the trails too much it probably makes sense to set your front end up a little stiffer. Experiment with different settings and form your own opinion as to what works best for you cause everyone will give you a different story depending on where they ride, how much they weigh etc etc. The most important thing is that you are out there trying it. Have fun, be patient it's not as easy as it looks.

Hoping to go out again today - Its a beautiful clear sunny day out, and I feel a lot more confident in what I'm doing so I wanna go tear it up again
If your not falling off your not trying hard enough. That is my theory on carving. I grew up riding in the flats in ND and MN where we could get maybe one half day of carving per season. I thought I perfected it there. Move to UT and get on a completely different sled, My RS Vector and realize that it is a completely different game. One of the last time I was riding we had 2 feet of fresh stuff and a decent base. I finally got the carving down where I don't have to stand on one running board to carve, Just hook a boot and shift your weight and giver. Now I have to wait until next season to giver again.
Next season should be even more fun after I put the rider forward on and shed a few pounds on the sled.

If you dont fall off you arent riding! Falling off is just a thing of carving. Falling off will also help your confidence believe it or not

Well...already have my first issue with the sled...Code 82 Thumb Warmer short - My thumb warmer will automatically go to full heat...gets toasty...so I have to keep turning it down...happens a lot....dealing with it for now - Dont wanna take it in yet lol
