First, I have to say I am coming off a CPR 780 Viper, so I was really worried I was going to be disappointed with the GT. Needless to say, I was blown away by this new sled. We have about 8" of new snow with fairly soft ground underneath right now. The throttle response was great, the low end power great, the ergo's great - everything about it was great. The new skid blows away anything Yamaha has ever done before, this thing rides and handles like nothing i have ever been on before. For those that think this thing is going to be to heavy, i didn't notice it one bit, and actually thought it felt quite nimble. It ran up to 125 on the speedo on a hard-pack road, in about 1/3 of a mile. It also has a lot of pull between 100-120. It handled a older SRX quite easily, but a CPR piped Viper was a bit too much for it. Keep in mind I don't have any studs, and only about 15 miles on it so it should loosen up quite a bit. Can't wait for the other friend's Renegade 1000. It should be a good race.

First ride on the GT yesterday.
I got to ride yesterday on 6"of snow frozen ground under the snow. I agree the sled does not feel heavy only when slow speed moving. I was completely impressed with how smooth, quick it was. The bumps will be fun. That was yesterday, today I put another 10 miles on with te Ulmer stage 2 kit in the same field. Wow! Bolt in and go. Ask my son on the 04 rev 800 ho what he thinks. I am glad to have a little pre season testing. The GT will be awsome.

I put 50 miles on mine in northwest adirondacks today on my gt, love it. I only thing I didnt like was the awful harmonic vibration/noise between 2500-2900 rpms. Any one notice this?

Re: first ride - GT
Wow i am impressed to think with only 15 miles you were able to get it up to 125 speedo, but if its like mine it not enough,if the speedos are any indication of how far off they are, yesterday we ran alot of back to back wfo runs up and down the pittston farm rd. in pittston farm township in Maine, now the road must be a good 1/2 mile of plowed but snow covered road very hard, and i saw a flash on my speedo of 128 only once, now i already had 108 for a max speed lock on my gps from another run earlier on,and it took 123-125 average to get it to 109 gps,its all stock attak and it runs 10,500 average and a couple times to 11,000 rpms, now is this big speedo diff. from a spinning track, that really is not going this fast,or is it overeving to the point of loosing power and going the other way?? T any rate 109 wont beat anything big, like a machz zr9 or even f-7 if this is all it has,now iam not saying i think its slow, its not but this is a little unusaual for this type of top speed,on my old rx1 at 128 my gps readings were around 114 and 131 117 so iam a little confused, but happy with the way it pulls and the overall package..SRXracer said:first, i have to say i am comeing off a CPR 780 Viper, so i was really worried i was going to be dissapointed with the GT. Ulmer stage 2 kit
I was very impressed with the kit. I still have a 04 800 ho rev with a pipe, reed spacers, geared, and a Cudney clutch kit and 144 studs. The Ulmer kit made more of a difference than all the above to the rev. I could not pull more than 9000 rpm's in about 600 feet before the kit, after it pulled 10,200. All the testing done in the same field running against my son's 04 800 ho mxzx. It made mid range a arm pulling experience. I thought it was fine stock with no miles but the clutch kit will be money very well spent.
