Well we went up to Halliburton area this weekend and I finally put about 250km on my (new to me) nytro. Overall, I love the sled. I had the front and rear suspension on soft all weekend and only bottomed once, and some of the trails were pretty bad (im 210lb with gear). The handling was fine IMO, and I have stock skis with aggressive carbides...I don't know what kind they are, but i'll get a pic so we can figure it out.
I have been debating getting an OFT re-locator since I bought the sled. Everyone says they are the best and to get one. Im kinda glad I waited and got some miles on the sled. I have no issues with the way it handles stock. When I rode a buddies apex it feels as if i'm punching the corner when I turn, and almost falling of the sled. Is this what an OFT does to the nytro? Makes it more like an apex?
Ice buidup. A few times throughout the day, it would sound like I blew the chaincase/drivers. I figured it was small chunks of ice. Then on Saturday I hit a large bump and had to stop - I thought for sure I broke something. Turns out the impact caused 2 massive hunks of ice to fall into the front of the track. Guess I need to keep an eye on it, and chip it off whenever I can. (see pic of ice)
Handwarmers handwarmers handwarmers...do I even need to say anything? it was -15 on Friday, and they just didn't work. Hands were cold and I hate cold hands. Saturday was only -2 and I had no problems, but they were on high, and I still couldn't feel anything. Yamaheater here I come...
I noticed my top A-arm bushings were squeaking. I think they are shot, they have quite a bit of play. Who's the best for bronze replacements? Its hard to believe Yamaha would even consider igus (plastic) bushings for those parts...with the beating they take.
I also noticed, quite a few times on the trail when cruizing slowly, the sled engages and disengages alot. It almost seems its very hard to keep the sled just going 10 or 20kmh. For those of you that have installed 14.5m rollers to lower engagement, do you lose top end or pull throughout the power band? I definitely do not want to change how hard this sled pulls, its freaking awesome!
The biggest concern over the trip for me was my new glasses. I wear a MX with Scott snow goggles, and I couldn't do anything to prevent my glasses from fogging. My old glasses never fogged this bad. I ended up driving 3 hours with no glasses on Friday, and that could have been very very bad (I cant see distance)...luckily we limped slowly and I could follow the taillight of a buddy. I changed the small xtx windshield to a medium with side deflectors on Saturday hoping it would help and it didn't really. I even tried my full face helmet with no success. I really don't enjoy contacts, anyone know good places for prescription goggles?
Aside from these little things, I am really happy I bought a Nytro. After reading everything on this site (after I bought the sled) I was pretty nervous about a lot of things. I really like the nytro compared to a Apex..Cant wait to clutch it and start tuning it to my liking!

The OFT relocator doesn't make it more like an APEX, it simple changes the sweeep of the bars so that it's more back and forth, and less up and down. I absolutely love the relocator, and think it's one of the best bang for the buck improvements you can make to the Nytro.

Mark, come try my sled to see what the OFT relocator feels like.
Bushings...go with Ulmers olite bushings....mine are still perfect.
clutching...come see me and we can talk. I home tonight.
Do you wear a No Fog mask with your helmet? If not, invest in one.

How well a No Fog will work depends on your helmet. I think a proper nose cone inside your helmet works much better.

Yamaheater with boost and thumb boost def worth the money.
Relocating the bars is a definite improvement. You can do it a bit yourself for next to nothing to see if you like it.
The ice can be really annoying at times, I normally take a rubber mallet to the tunnel after every ride to get rid of most of the ice. Seems to make a big difference.
Looking into the lower engagement myself as well, I agree trying to ride at less than 20kph is near impossible. Rollers or a complete clutch kit seems to be the common fixes.
As for the fogging, are your goggles designed for glasses? I know Scott makes OTG goggles designed to go Over the Glasses. Another option is the Haber/509 fog eliminator fan that sucks the moisture out of your goggles.

My goggles are Scott Snow goggles, not specifically designed for glasses, but my glasses fir no problem in behind the goggles. Fitment isn't any issue. The goggles never fog, only my glasses.
I am debating the fan option, but i think i may just get go the prescription goggle route. Maybe I can rig up a heated goggle lens with the cord...there's a custom idea i might do, think it would help?
Also, I'm not sure what a no fog is..i did a search and if I am on the right site is it the apparatus that straps in front of your mouth/nose, kind of like a dog muzzle? (bad reference i know..but it works)

No-Fog is kinda of a brand name and style, basically yes, a neoprene mask over your mouth and nose to force your breath down and out the bottom of the helmet, instead of up into your goggles. I have a couple of different ones and they all work great, my goggles never fog up on me, even if I am stopped for a while talking to my buddies.

Watch those limiter straps.
When my 09 was brand new less than 200km I bottomed out and the straps went up and over the top cross shaft. Major grind and vibration I also thought I blew out the chain case at that time.
Took weeks and this site to find out the real cause.
Limiter strap fix in the FAQ.
