Another First Ride Report

Geez I haven't notcied the left foot syndrome at all yet. Maybe I shouldn't have read this, I'll probably notice it now.....LOL!

LOL, ya that is always the way !! It was tons of deep powder and would say this is worse case scenario.

Love the FreeRide track !!!

Blueballer, do you think it is just wrapping around the body and getting sucked into the footwell ?

I'm not 100% sure where the source is, either drawn in under hood, then melting, or piling up in the footwell, then melting. either way it sux. I was contemplating new boots, now it seems to be a necessity. I refuse to ride all day with a soggy sock.

I was wearing brand new FXR Nitro boots, still got soggy foot :(

Soggy foot not a happening thing :o|

Just got back from the first ride. I have not had a problem with the wet socks. This sled reminds me exactly of my old Rev. I went across some rough sections in the ditch's and it I didn't feel the bumps at all, the snowmobile absorbs them all. The one thing I would like to see is with the handwarmers. I don't like the fact that they reset everytime you turn the machine off. It has amazing power. I'm only getting about 12-13 MPG, but I think those numbers will come up as it breaks in. My track is tighter so that may be part of the problem and we went across a few lakes that aren't quite frozen in southern minnesota. Its like a jet ski in the open water though.

Great report Goddo ! I had mine out for a good ride today in the Highlands and man, I'm really liking this sled ! It's by far the most comfortable sled I've even ridden as well, and it's really easy to maneuver. I didn't get a chance to swap the track yet (doing it this week without a doubt) but it definitely needs a taller lug, especially in powder, just too much spinning and fishtailing with the stock ripsaw. I made a few short WOT runs with it as well and it's pulling HARD ! I can't wait to install the Intense now and get it out in 4 feet of powder !

Had my first ride today on my RTX. This machine is awsome hitting field approaches, I cannot believe how flat and straight this thing flies. Puts my old rev to shame. Really like the fox floats, so far. I have not touched the suspension yet, it seemed to be set up pretty good for the ditches. It did not feel nose heavy to me at all. Very responsive rider input. First time that my clothes didn't stink from two stroke exhaust. I kind of like that. Engine braking is a non issue, because there was none. Yammi skis worked ok, hard pack might be different. Hit 85 once and was still pulling very hard. Really like the wide runing boards. Handle bars could use a slight overhaul. This is one awsome motor and it is only going to get better and stronger.

I forgot to include a couple of pics.

For those of you who compared the Nytro to the Rev have absolutely made my day! I loved the ride of my rev, just hated the reliability.

Keep the reviews coming....

Thier a lot like a REV alright except REV's dont bottom out over medium bumps, give you a wet left boot, cold hands and as nervous cornerning as the Nytro IMO. So far Im dissaointed :o|

I'm just kind of curious, are you going to repeat this in every post? What have you done to adjust the handling? What kind of boots are you wearing? What kind of suspension adjustments have you been making?

If you have a problem with the sled ultimately than fine - I am not saying the thing is perfect nor invalidating your issues - but whining in every post is just annoying.

Goddo, you need to start wailing on that engine, the faster you wear it in the better. i did this with an rx1 and the engine is very strong compared to others. just make sure that you get the oil and filter changed at the 500km mark to get out all the metal that had come off in wear in.

Thanks Redsnake3,

It was honestly very hard to hold back...You hear so many opinions on the best way to break in the 4 strokers, but in all honesty the "ride it like you stole it" seems to be the most popular.

Unchained, If bottoming is going to be a problem for you, you might have to swap out the stock springs for the RTX springs which I think are 2100nmm. You'll be able to run them on soft or medium.

I thought the suspension was awesome on the trail. It soaked up all the small and medium stuff and was extremely comfortable. I too was surprised at how easy it bottomed on a medium bump at speed, but I only had my springs on medium. I'm more than happy with the shock setup. I'm a big fellow so I suspected that the springs might be an issue.

You have to look at the flip side. I had the snow pro package on my Firecat and had to run the springs at soft and medium. On hard the sled would literally knock your fillings loose. Big bump capable is one thing, but you still need something that won't pound you on the smaller stuff.

I plan on doing a run with the springs on hard, and if I still find that it bottoms easily on the bigger stuff, I'll go to the RTX springs. The shocks I feel are pretty good at 2/3 of total stiffness..

I finally put a few (10) miles on my Nytro last night-
I have ridden Rev's since they came out (03 Race Sled w/600HO, 05 600SDI Renegade, 06 Race Sled w/600HO) and the Nytro feels just like those, except for the crazy fast throttle response and major torque. It felt just as light as my Rev racer and considering it's not broken-in yet, it feels much quicker...

I have the RTX version and I was not able to bottom it yet, front or rear. I have not changed any rear settings from the Factory settings yet, and have the floats at 65psi. It rides firmer than the Renegade I had and softer than the 06 Race Chassis Rev I have...

Cannot comment on the wet boot thing being talked about as I only rode 10 miles...

My hand/thumb warmers on high, were pretty warm, but not hot (ambient temp was 10 deg F). My hands did not get cold but I can see why many are saying they are no where near hot enough. My hand like to get cold so this will probably be an issue for me...

I have C&A Razors and the Nytro seemed corner as well if not better than my REV's did, no nervous feeling and not much inside ski lift. I am comparing to Race chassis Revs so it probably is not a good comparison...

So far I love it. Will hopefully be putting on a couple hundred miles this weekend...

All of you guys can get defensive but if you think Im happy to post here anything but positive remarks about my ten thousand dollar sled, your ill.

Of course I will pursue trying to aleviate every issue but it appears my initial complaints are already posted all over here.

Wet boots, cold hands and rear skid bottoming. Do a search on me and read my other ride reports before this weekend and realize Im not into drama and stirring crap for the heck of it.

I believe the point is, you don't need to 'SPAM' every ride report thread with your concerns. Perhaps you need to start your own thread looking for ways to address your concerns. Be rest assured that the Mod team will be paying attention to your posts, in case it turns into a bash session. Have a nice day! ;)!

Or here is a thought, try Yamaha Customer Ralations or even better yet, take your problems to the dealer. I have heard you loud and clear... over and over, why not take it some place that will really matter!!!
