The pilot 5.7 Skis with Woody's 4" carbides tranformed this sled from a tank to a tremendously nice trail riding machine. I could not believe the difference. After 300 miles and shims etc. I was ready to dump the sled it was the worst handling machine I have ever ridden was not even fun to ride until today. Now I think I like it....... :rocks:

duallys on stock skis make quite a difference for my apex gt. I am still getting a rev xp. I love my wifes!

I ran the woodys duellys on my Apex the first season and they helped/cured the darting but as mentioned in the first post...the Pilots "transformed" my sled also. Lighter steering, better cornering and minimal darting.

A little set-up and a few tweaks goes a long way...

I tried the set up and tweaks, didn't work for me....the pilots totally transformed my 06 RTX. X2 Mr Twstr

Yea the stock apex skis do not help the sled at all!!! Put the C&A Extremes with 6'' sharper bars carbides on there and it handles 110% better!!!

Through on some 6" shaper bars in the center and move the 4" to the outside. Then you'll really be smiling!!

Something Yamaha should really pay attention to for new buyers.

Which Pilots? Race? Touring? What about the handles? Did you need a coversion kit to fit Yami?

I followed the thread in the frequently asked questions at the top of the page.

This should be a link to it;

It is very easy. I found a set of pilots 5.7 skis off a 2010 Ski Doo 800XRS on craigs list then bought Ski Doo ski stoppers PN 505072018 ( Used to be 506151233). I used Woody's 4" carbides on inside and outside four runners total. You may want to use 6" on the inside and 4" on the outside if you are studded. I didn't because I am not studded I have an Ice Ripper 1 1/4"track with most of the carbide tips broke off.

I flipped the spacer on the inside of ski around and used the same bolt that was holding the stock Yamaha skis on. It's that simple..... ;)!

Yep, got em, completely different handling sled. More aggressive, but smoken through the woods!

:drink:

Extreme snowtrackers is the only way to fly!! Man they work awesome.. NO shimming, no trying out different skis. Bolt them on and go.

OK, what about the 6.9's? Anyone have an opinion of them for Central NY style trail riding? Reason I ask is that someone has a BN pair on craigslist locally for an ok price. Plus would be floatation in fresh lake effect, but what would be the negatives?
