So this is my first service on my viper what are some important things to check besides the obvious? Plan on changing oil/filter check slides, carbides, grease fittings clean clutches etc. also what are guys running for oil Yamaha or amsoil? I’ve always ran amsoil in my 2 stroke snox sleds but this is way diff Thanks for help guys!!!
I would change chain case oil, check chain case tension. Check Tri hub, grease bearings or change Tri hub. I always ran Amsoil but this year I changed to Mobile 1 because of price and availability.

I just did my 1st service on my ltx also. Yamalube in my engine, Klotz in the chaincase. Besides servicing I recommend an every nut and bolt inspection. I found a few items that rattled loose floating around on my belly pan.

Remove muffler. Chuck condition of exhaust gasket. Leave oil tank on and drain oil tank then loosen the torx nuts (11 in total I believe) to "split" chaincse and let drain. Then remove all torx nuts and wipe inside of both halves clean (especially magnet) and keep track of washer placement when taking apart. Follow instructions in owner's manual for reverse actuator. Re-assemble and fill chaincase with oil (355ml or 12'5 oz's if I recall). Adjust chaincase tensioner bolt as per manual and re-install muffler. Re-fill oil tank.
