Decided that I'm going to do an oil change on the sled this week, went up to to preferred and got my oil and filter .....led to chain case oil and exhaust gasket. Asked them to run my vin and The sled had 2 recalls done before j got it. They said next week yamaha will have new recalls coming out. Opened the side to access oil tank and chain case. To open the case and drain ,will the oil and reverse assembly need to be removed?

Yes. I recommend removal of the hoses on oil tank side also. I know chaincase can be accessed with hoses attached to oil tank but it increases your odds of cracking one of the ears from not getting oil tank/chaincase cover completely seated before putting in the bolts. Also don't forget the bottom two. Your alternative is a evacuator pump to just suck the chaincase oil out. I have not seen any issues to warrant tank/chaincase cover removal since reverse pawl update but if inspection is your goal. It's understandable. I plan to do mine this time around. Will post a how to and pics of what all should be inspected. If weather doesn't allow me to put up trail signs that will happen this weekend.

Thanks for the advice I'll be sure to remove them and take it easy, I would like to see what going on inside never know what might have happened to the guy before me
