here goes guys have to clean bench for this monster and get ready to do it any tips on factory tools I will need to buy I have a motion pro leak down tester what a let down in quality funky gage just sucks for the money payed Shame on you motion pro my butt. sorry had to vent there. Please PM me on tools I will look on my cd rom and service book to get a feel I know this is expert class mill now some history on the sled it came from This fellow ai know hit a rock doing around 75 miles or so and pushed front heat exchanger into the track got a leak going but was hafe shot so tried to make it home mag cover plastic plug melted and blew oil all over engine bay dip stick was melted but still ran good when he started it the next mornig and rode over to my shop I gave the sled a looking over and found the rock hit oil chang plastic plate tore up bulk head left shock eye on bulk head had crack center bulk head neer cooler was toast so offerd the kid 1500.00 he took the money I have tunnel intact pipe skide so got this black shorty in pieces would like to use the mill for fun project dont know what may be nitris mortor dimond s ti frame hill climer.or spare mill for my little girls drag sled.may big bore or something neat any Ideas guys I need to find out if the crank good and work my way up I know motors for the RX1 are not easy to come by and parts are darn spendy even used how about a oline project boys anyone want to get intrested Irondog rtx
 
If it got that hot, could have out of round cylinders, head could be warped, crank should be easy to check look at bearings and if there shot check crank for damage, if he ran it out of oil you will have to check cams and lifters, hopefully thats not the case, If the cylinders are out of round you will need to have them replated, if not have them honed so that the new rings will seat good, I have 3 stock pistons and rods if you need any, cheap there just taking up space. I have never used any special tools just your basic metric tool box should do the trick, not as difficult as some make out. its just 4 cylinders with two cams, just pay attention to how it came apart label and take pictures if you need, be careful with shims under lifter buckets, they are all different so keep them in order and when you go back together with it make sure they all are in properly.
 
If that sled was still running you maybe lucky re-bearing the lower end, rings and run it??

Definately a good buy at $1500. ;)!

As for the wrenching, just common sence and pay attention to the specs.
