Hi,I just put a set of simmons skis on my warrior. Now I feel like the skis are bolted to the garage floor! There is no snow for a test ride, but it feels like i'm going to get some serious arm pump trying to turn the darn thing! Is this right? Can I adj this out or is this the way it is?I'm thinking I might have made a mistake, please help! Jay

What size carbides do you have on them? Sounds like you have carbides biting into floor and no traction to overcome. They steer much easier on snow. In fact many people claim they push through corners.....I don't but many do. If you think the steer hard.....shim them. You can find directions elsewhere on the site........numerous topics. It's really easy.

I had simmons and didn't like them. They do push in corners. Even in the snow-park parkinglot they don't turn the sled where you point it. Swapped them for Apex skis.

I put them on my Apex about 350 miles ago and LOVE them. They absolutly transformed the sled into cornering animal. They are, however, much harder to turn.

I will give them one thing, they don't dart at all on the trails! That part was nice.

Buddah, the have the stock 4 inch carbides on them. One thing I noticed is when you turn the handlebars fully the sled actully lifts up!(due to camber change at the ski.) You never notice this effect with a single runner ski! This has got to be the reason for the increased effort. Most people seem to like them,I guess I'll give them a chance. P.S. Buddah, glad to hear your doing better! We need your voice of reason! Jay

If they didn't turn, you didn't have them set up correctly. My 03 steers easy, carves great on the trails, zero darting and I can turn around in 10 ft. on bone dry pavement. WAYYYYY better then the stock Yammi's in every dept.

My 2 cents best up grade i ever did! They do steer ALOT easeier on snow and better then the stock skis

I'm glad to see this topic. I just got home from a trip and it seemed like I was having a hell of a time with the stock skis for some reason. I have 4200 miles on the sled and last season I did not seem to notice it as bad. I have wanted to ask some of you about other skis. Seemed like the stock skis with 6" carbide almost bite to hard. I had a hell of a time keeping the thing down at times. I like a litle push to get thru the corners. I'm wondering if the dealer messed with my limiter strap when they put the 06 suspension in it. Would that cause the front end to seem like it was a tank? I rode the hell out of this thing last season and it did not seem like it was fighting me in the turns so much. I only got one other trip in this season (700 miles) before I substained a back injuiry so maybe I was just rusty? but it sure felt heavy in comparison to last season.
Can anyone give me insight to what adjusting the limiter strap will do? I know if I adjust it out it will take ski pressure off right? So if I let the strap out some, do I mess with the transfer rod as well? I adjusted the transfer rod when I was up there and all it wanted to do was pull the front end off the ground...so that did not do what I wanted it to.
I did not have the time to mess with it much up north since I did not want to hold my group up, and we have not had S*^T for snow here at home.
Any sugestions where to go to get this thing to handle like I want? It felt like the thing just wanted to bite way to hard and all I would get was ski lift and had to back off the throttle.
All I could think was "I miss my 600 in the woods"

I have a set of simmions on my 03 RX-1 and the work great. Other then they are alittle aggressive. Compared to other skis i have used. If you want to turn you will turn in hurry.

Ever driven a car withOUT power steering? Try turning the wheels when the car is STOPPED. Very hard. When the car is moving, this is a whole other story.xc8j said:Hi,I just put a set of simmons skis on my warrior. Now I feel like the skis are bolted to the garage floor! There is no snow for a test ride, but it feels like i'm going to get some serious arm pump trying to turn the darn thing! Is this right? Reason SIMNONS are so much harder when you are parked in the garage is because the simmons skis will be contacting your garage floor at MULTIPLE POINTS. The stock skis only contacted the floor at ONE point. When you're moving, they steer fine.

yeah I have heard about the shimming deal. I will look into it. Anyone here shim the stock skis and liked the end results? What was the difference in handling or what is shimming supposed to do? I don't plan on keeping the 05 forever. I want to see whats up for 08 and 09. If I can get away with the stock skis until then I will.
