Long time Rx rider here, love it but its time for a change. I am looking at the Nytro XTX. I am looking for a lighter machine, and one that will not sink like the Rx1. And I like the power of the 130, pretty close I think to carb. 4 cylinder i am riding now My concern is this: Will i be able to stay warm enough? Does changing the windshield help much? I spend 90 % of time on groomed trails, but I have a long access trail to get to the main trail that i have to use snow-shoes to pack it down when we have big snow, i'm over that!! Thanks guys

I think the nytro is a fairly warm sled. I have a medium winshield with the side deflectors. I upgraded the handguards to Rox Flex Tec which are way wider than stock and provide great coverage for your hands. When riding seated, most of the wind is pushed around, away from you.
The lower vents on the left side pour hot air out when the rad fan kicks-in, which helps.
I had a vector, imo the nytro is way warmer to ride.

The nytro sinks like a rock with stock skis. Need mountain skis, or something at least 7" wide. As far as warm riding, I dunno. I have a low windshield, Rox speedfx hand guards, no yamaheater or anything like that. I freeze when its cold out.

I had an 04 Rx 1 (ton) You'll enjoy the torque of the Nytro. I did increase the windshield height with side deflectors for when we're running lakes. I would recommend a ski change and probably the Yamaboost system. I could sit on here for hours with recommendations for upgrades/mods and power adders but if you pick one up you'll find out. Totally different beast from the RX from grunt to ergonomics and bump eater . Good luck

I have the larger windshield with side deflectors and the Yamaha covers that go over the stock hand guards. I have poor circulation in my hands and I was able to ride in 0 deg f with no problems.

I rode a RX1 Mountain, now a 2013 Nytro XTX 1.75. The Nytro would be better with the mountain skis if you were running in deep snow most of the time. I like the Tuner skis myself. I have the taller windshield, no other mods. The power seems about the same other than top end speed. I like the better MPG's. The lack of coolers running under the running boards, my feet don't stay toasty. I can high mark farther and boon docking maneuvers are a lot easier. All in all, I really love the Nytro and can't wait to hit the trails.

Thanks for your input guys, this is going to be my first "rider forward" type sled. I am used to sitting "in" a sled behind the windshield, not on top of the sled. I am never cold on my RX, usually ride with my face shield open, and only use my hand warmers for a few minutes after taking a break, them I shut them off. The nytro looks awesome, but man it looks like you would get cold sitting high on top of them compared to sitting on the ground like my RX1!

09 XTX. I have the larger windshield, side deflectors and the Yamaha covers that go over the stock hand guards. The original heated grips were terrible. Had to get the "upgraded" grips as an accessory from Yamaha
Brings back memory that Yamaha Corp. still sucks once in while. Original grips should have been recalled. Sled is as warm as most of the other sleds I have ridden. Low windshield is cold. Schmidt Brothers has solution for wet left foot.

I'm not going to kid you it's a cold ride , I had a bigger windy and side deflector kit RSI heated grips with yamaheater and the dumbo ears and still got cold sometimes....Ahogan said:Thanks for your input guys, this is going to be my first "rider forward" type sled. I must be a whimp, I have the yamaheater and RSI hi power grips and my hands still freeze. This year I am buying the powermadd gauntlets for the long trips.
I have the med windshield with the side deflectors, and also the stock low one, and all I really noticed was the side deflectors take some wind off your sides. Not really any warmer or not.

Beenba ....i had the same issue until i bought these klim gloves..
they have two different place to put ur hands inside....one thin between ur hands and the bars so the heat (or lack there of) has an better chance of getting to your hands.

^Thanks, I just might have to give them a try, that's cool with the 2 spots to put your fingers, cause my fingertips always get the coldest. I'm currently using the Yamaha team glove, same as fxr. (The thick ones, not the thin MX style ones)
