I have the opportunity for a good deal on some Fox Float Air shox and was looking for some feedback on them. I am riding an 06 Apex GT with stock coil over shocks. I am pretty sure these are the same shocks that come stock with the RTX. I not too concerned with jumping or ditch banging characteristics, just want to see better handling and cornering. Will I see a big difference?

You're better off with the coil over shocks if your riding mostly groomed trails. Fox Floats are better in the bumps and for ditch banging.

The gyt shocks that come standard on the gt handle preety good, but we ran the floats on two of our sleds last year,i just bought another set of the floats, that is how well i like them, and i dont do much jumping, anyone who states they are only for jumping, has not run them for any length of time, they are the best shock for the apex period,IMO and alot of people who have 06 rtx's,once you get them set up for your style of riding there is no comparision,if you think your apex eats stutter bumps, than install the fox floats and run that same trail again, and you will be wondering when they grommed the trail, lol no kidding they are that good, handling is whatever you want it to be,lower the pressure and rail, increase it and bash the big ones, your choice, and go out on the ice and lower it even lower than the most set up lake rocket in less than 1 min. ya i love them, dont hesitate go get them on and try them out,and if you really dont like them, they sell really quick.Embden said:I have the opportunity for a good deal on some Fox Float Air shox and was looking for some feedback on them. I put a set of FLOATS on my Attak over the summer. Although I only have 150 miles on this season, I have to say that they made a noticable improvment in the bumps for sure, and I did not notice anything negative at tails seeps so far. My vote goes to the FLOATS!

Stock shocks do work good. But I have rode Yamaha's with the floats. I second the vote for Floats. You will notice an improvement.

if i could get a good deal on then I would buy them just to have an extra set! they are the best front shock that I have ever had, and my old srx was set up with works front shocks on a snotech front suspension.

Fox Floats, would be my bet. Just make sure they are off an RTX and not a Cat.

FLOATS without a doubt.....this was one of the main reasons i went with RTX over GT...i dont think you have the flexibility with coilovers that the floats have....
also,i dont feel any GT can RAIL like a RTX does...i beleive its all in the "FLOATS"!

FLOATS!! They ride plush(those who say theyre too stiff probably dont have them) They never bottom, are lighter, they make ride height infinetely adjustable and IMO are a much better shock for this application than ANY coil sprung shock. When I ordered my sled I was torn between the RTX and GT, After taking delivery of the RTX and riding a GT last winter I was very happy I went with the RTX.

I took my floats off and put on the GYTRs.
I would rather ride than be adjusting all the time.

From everything I've heard floats are much better in any riding condition. I put them on my attak, now just waiting for winter to arrive to try them out. OH wait winter has arrived, now i'm waiting for snow.
