Freeride - Top Speed - RPM's

Cool!I am starting over.I dont know what I did wrong but last time I had secondary apart I must have not had clip on all the way.Or the splined washer broke.Either way the groove clip goes in is now double the width and splined washer is cracked :o|

So I am putting that reverse secondary I had on.Offset is right on with just one of the two stock shims in behind it.Everything clears and I made a bolt with spacer so it can float but have heard different opinions on the necessity of that.So starting over.If it works will be adding a adjustable roller to it.

Prav what are you running for secondary set up C2 seems to work pretty good for me. Also maybe your primary or secondary springs are getting tired.

By moving the secondary setting from B-1 back to A-1 (softer)... this will allow secondary to open easier correct? Also, will this increase - decrease - or have no effect on RPMs?

my ulmer kit instructs to go to 70 or 75 degrees of twist whatever that is on the alpha numeric scale - the instructions are in the garage, so i dont have access. i still say you need more twist in the primary - it's opening too soon.

I'm guessing you mean secondary... you think I need more? If it's not shifting out like it should, wouldn't you want less twist so it would open easier?

if it wasn't shifting out it would run higher rpms. not enuff twist is like shifting a manual transmission from 1st to 3rd and skipping second.

You also want to consider backshifting. If you want more engine braking felt run more twist on the secondary.Want less engine braking run less twist.

The above could be a possibility. If I am rolling at 65 and wack the throttle it doesn't feel like there's much there.... about the last 30% of the throttle I don't see much at all. It will now roll up to 84 on the speedo. 0-65 is no issue but I suppose it could be "skipping" a gear there. Possibility?? What do your sleds act like in this range?

I have an ultimax pro belt on the way. I want to try that and see if the stocker was slipping at all. I think I may try tighting the secondary as well to see if there's any change.

What are the secondary settings along with what the stock setting is on all models. Ex A-1 (Stock FX etc) Cannon - I think you sent me a PM with this but I cleaned out my bin and deleted that one on accident.

i just shreaded an ultimax pro belt. not even 200mi on it. it dissenigrated. ive had best luck w the yamaha belts i think it performs better w them. but mines compleatly stock

Testing results from today:

I switched from the new belt (was the spare when I bought the sled with 1100 miles) to the old belt that had the original miles on it.

After the shaving the 2 grams from each weight the RPMs are much improved. Pin it and the R's jump to 11,800-11,900 and fall to roughly 11,660 everytime down. The over-rev is pretty quick as it doesn't sit at 11,660 for very long. The sled over-revs right back up to 11,900. This was consistent with both belts. The first belt today (new - spare belt outlined above with very low miles on it) saw these RPMs but neither clutch was shifting out all the way. Ref the pic below of the primary.. the secondary was looking about the same. The MPH was 78ish with this belt. When I put on the belt with 1100 miles on it... it was a bit better at first but seemed to warm up nice. The R's were the same with this belt but I was over-reving and pulling up to 84 on the speedo. I haven't pulled the belt to take a better look at the secondary but I can't find the mark on it at all now... so it must be shifting out. I'm still concerned with the primary though. It just looks to me like it's not shifting out.

Looking for some benchmark pics or tips here. Mark your primary and show me a pic of yours... or just take a pic and l can check out the wear mark and see how high your belts are riding.

thanks
i dont think your primary is closing all the way - maybe cannondale can comment on the mark - there should still be some left, but not that much imho.

That was my thought as well when I looked at it (this is my first year on the phazer so I don't have anything to compare to). I'm at a loss right now on what to do if that's the case. I thought by getting the R's right it would fix it. It definitely helped the top end. I picked up 9MPH but the clutches don't look right. The secondary wasn't shifting out all the way either until my last few runs the last time. I guess I could move secondary settings to see how that affects it. Any other suggestions on attempting to get this thing to shift out if that's the case?

The pic with marker is about right. If you have the rpms you want then thats all there is to do unless you gear higher or add power for mph.How is the engagement, start, response and the engine braking?

I know on a two stroke if you have that much of a line your not getting full shift are four strokes differnt?
