I have been thinking of putting some frogskinz material on the front of my airbox to add a little extra airflow and take advantage of the cooler air coming in the top of the hood, but I was concerned about what would happen if I got in some deep snow that came in over the hood. This is not a common thing for me, but I wouldn't want to hydrolock the engine because I did something stupid so I thought I would ask.

Here is what they said:

Hey Dave

Yes, you can put these on your Viper Airbox. Our product is hydrophobic
meaning it repels snow, dirt, water, etc. BUT does allow for air to flow
through. However, our product is not waterproof so if your machine
would be submerged in a body of water for a significant amount of time,
it would eventually allow water to go through.

But you will not have a problem for your application. Please let me know
if you have any other questions.

I just thought I would post this in case anyone else was wondering the same thing.

Frogskinz works awesome for keeping water out but think about all the heat and steam from the radiator when doing your airbox.

I was thinking that the Viper grill is so open there is a lot of cold air coming in and hitting the top of the airbox, but there is no way to utilize it since the airbox is only open on the bottom where the heat and steam is even worse. If somebody made a little scoop for the top of the airbox you might be able to get a little ram air effect at speed. I wasn't going to do that though just maybe buy some of the little round skinz vents and place them strategically in the air box where they won't affect strength or rigidity as I have to believe that there are times when the motor could use a little more air.

I rarely ever ride in snow that comes over the front bumper as I'm mainly a trail rider.

Just thinking things through so I'm open for ideas. thanks

Excell has just that. A scoop that draws air from alongside radiator. I like it. Was a noticeable mid range boost.

I have been looking at that too. Always looking to save some money though.
