2000 Vmax 700 Mod
Hey guys, I've finally upgrade from my bulletproof 2000 VMAX 700. Got myself a 05 Vector Mountain! Can't wait for some snow to try it out. I am familiar with the driveshaft issues with these sleds and that seems to be good. The clutch has a bit of a rattle...same as my Vmax. No big deal. My only real concern seems to be that damned timing chain tensioner. Is there a way a guy can see if it has been updated to the blue dot tensioner without doing all the ripping of tearing to replace it to find out its been done. I have no history on the sled. I would just hate to be picking up engine shrapnel after 1500 miles on a 4 stroke lol.
Any help or anything else I need to know is appreciated!

You need an extendable mirror and a flashlight! Look at back side of motor i believe the right hand side. Hold the mirror under the tensioner you should see a orange or blue dot on the tensioner housing.

When you say back side, do you mean the side with the pipes or the side with the carbs?

Any other good mods a guy can do to the mountain models? The mountain rs forum is a RX guys. Would it be worth dropping a couple teeth off the top gear to pull the skis?
