I own a 2005 RX1-ER 121" track,I was doing some preventive maintenance when I notice to me a lot of play in front "A" arm bushings lower & upper at bulkhead...is it normal and if yes how much is normal.

If you jack the front end off the ground with weight off front skis...wow,then grab the spindle and rock back & forth (1/2" +/-)...slack-o-galore...I was just wondering if this is normal...I have 5000kms and my buddies sled does the same with 3200kms with the same slack/play... :? :rocks:

Thanks ahead of time for anybody that can help me work this one out.

Normal. Nothing to worry about.

yeah its a yamaha thing :drink:
Ok...but how much is normal, and does it get any worst with higher milage.

Should I take the arms off and grease them,I notice there wasn't any grease to be found.

I thought it might be a good idea to ZERT them and pack-em up full of grease??? or I'm just wasting my time...what would you guy's reccomend as preventive maintenace?

Thanks again guy's for the info.

It sure would not hurt to ad the zerts, Grease sure will help.I pulled apart my 03 when I bought it had 2000 miles on it. front bushings were toast and some of them were not there .rust inside the a arms. A zert would have prevented this. If you decide to replace the bushings Maxxperformance has heavy duty bushings that they had made, as the yamaha ones were not holding up well.

My skis will move 3/4-1" and I have 10,300 kms on it.

I am having new bushings and grease zerts installed next time it goes in.

My RsVenture get about 3/4"+free play on skis when moving back & forth after 8000kms. I don't consider this as normal but as premature wear. Plastic bushings rubbing on metal shaft without any lubrification is not a big deal.

The wear is mainly on the bulkhead side and also a bit on the ski side. Because there is a lot of rust in the a-arm tube, i already begin to install a zert on the tube between the bushings to fill the tube of grease and lubricate the bushing but i get a little problem: Because the bushings are already wore, the free play movement of the a-arm tube on the shaft act as a pump, compress the grease and make it jerk out.... so the bushing will need to be replaced to make a good job.

Also, if you consider to install zert, don't position it too up on circumference of the tube to avoid the zert touch or interfere with the bulkhead when the suspention is fully compress...

Bye
Alain
