I noticed that the rs vector does not use the same style front springs
as the rs rage. The vectors have like a multi rate spring and the rage
has streight rate springs. The front end geometry is the same so what
is the reason they use differant springs? Is one set up better than the
other? Or is it a matter of intended use of the sled, trail VS. boondocking?

I wouldn't get to wrapped up in this debate at this point as I was told by some Yamaha reps that they were not set as to what springs were going to go on the Vector models at this point and the photos you see in the brochure show multi-rate springs but I have seen Vector's in person with the straight rate springs and asked and they weren't sure, but the latest units they were testing had straight rates on it. As far as their function the straight rates help provide flatter cornerning by providing a consistant spring rate.

I guess we will see what they come with this fall. Will
one type give a better ride? I am more interested in
a nice soft ride over flat cornering.

I believe that is the theory behind the multi-rates is a softer initial setting with the ability to get stiffer later in the travel of the shock. This all works together with the valving in the shock. So there is definitely a blend between the valving and the springs that contributes to the ride quality.

At this point I don't think the spindles will be interchangeable. I have heard the rumors about underseat storage on here but have not seen or heard anything about it from Yamaha. Leading me to believe their is no such thing. I believe the seats will be interchangeable on the RX-1 models. Not sure though but can't see any reason they won't be.

Another screw up by the person doing the Yamaha Canada Website.
The reps are major embarrased but cant seem to get the errors addressed in a timely matter
