just a little info i thought i would pass along, yamaha (Quote) All 2005 rs models, except the rs vector mountain, use new geometry front suspension components. The components are not interchangeble with rx model suspension components (Except as a complete set).end quote. the differances are shorter shock, longer upper a arm, shorter a arm, shorter ski column, steering knuckle is shorter, shock mounts repositioned.

I think I know where you are going with this. I too have bent my spindles several times. In fact Yamaha paid for one under warranty.
It's nice to see they have listened to our gripes and redesigned the front end (to at least look more able) to withstand what I consider run of the mill impacts without damage.
I wonder what the cost would be to update the entire front end to the 05 spec? Would it be worthwhile (probably not) but it would sure be cool to try.

while i dont think it would be worth the $ to change, and i was just passing along information directly from yamaha.i dont believe your statement makes much sense. the weights not all that much different between the two.most of us are taking weight off our sleds or redistributing it.(changing balance).

The weight difference IS considerable - theres a whole missing cylinder and reduction drive, and Vector mountain is NARROW stance, so its not applicable as a comparison. Why do you think that 05 RX has the same suspension as 03 and 04? Probably because thats what works with RX.
