Hi. This is Shari, VX1R/Boomer/Don Thompson’s wife. I am posting for sale Don’s 2023 Lynx Xterrain RE 900 ACE Turbo R PowderMax 2.0” E.S., Viper Red. As you probably know, sadly, Don passed away in April 2024, so I am selling the sled. I am located in the south metro area of Minnesota.

I know it’s not a Yamaha and this is a Yamaha site, but a lot of TY members had the opportunity to get to know Don over the years, and I thought you might be interested to know the sled is for sale, or you may have friends who would be interested in buying it and can spread the word. Even with the purchase of his new Lynx snowmobile, Don remained a diehard Yamaha fan, and had pre-ordered a 2025 LTX-LE.

Don had a lot of work done to customize his Lynx to his riding needs. It is better than new. $16,000 is my asking price for the sled.

The sled has only 535 miles on it. It has Ski Doo B.E.S.T. warranty coverage through 12/29/2026. The sled is set up and good to go for Midwest riding. In Don’s own words from Facebook conversations, “the 900R motor has a nice and thick powerband and the 3 driving modes are a nice feature. The weight transfer of the suspension does a nice job with the extra weight of the 4-stroke. It still has a nice and playful feeling.” And it doesn’t hurt that the sled looks really good. If you’re looking for a ride where, in Don’s words, “the handling and fun factor is off the charts”, then this is the sled for you.

Upgrades to the sled include the following:
  • Custom wrap on hood, tunnel, and windshield (Blown Concepts)
  • BRP Can-Am/Ski-Doo Ultra Low Windshield
  • Camso Hurricane 175 track (replacing the stock PowderMax 146” x 16” x 2” lug track)
  • 49T Gear (swapped out the stock 27/51T lower gear to a 49T since using a lower lug track)
  • Cudney Racing Clutch Kit
  • Upgrade on Ohlins KYB Shocks (Monster Performance): softer valving, custom triple adjuster, and calibration setup
  • Rox Speed FX 4”-6” Adjustable Riser and Gen 3 Flex-Tec Handguards and Bar Pads
  • Lynx Explorer Rear and Front Red Bumpers
  • Red Skid Plate
  • Stud Boy Shaper Bars (16-92410-60)
  • 4th wheel kit
  • OEM LinQ Slim Waterproof Tunnel Bag

He always had the nicest looking sleds. Good luck to you and God Bless!

Sweet sled as always. I drooled all over that srx Don did back in the day when it was sitting at Pat's. Good luck with the sale.

Shari,

Don absolutely had the best taste in snowmobiles. I thoroughly enjoyed all his builds through the years. I had questions about his Lynx after his first season, so I sent him a private message. He messaged me back with a phone number and told me to call him. After 15 minutes on the phone, Don had sold me on a Lynx. It was a pleasure chatting with him.

Good luck with the sale. I can post this on Dootalk if you would like.

Thank you for the offer to post this on Dootalk, number1kyster. I have Don's Dootalk info, so I can go ahead and post it there. Good idea. I'm happy you got a chance to talk to Don. He loved snowmobiling and talking to fellow snowmobiling enthusiasts.
